Leghorns -19 weeks to first eggs

Pics
I doubt anything can take these chicken during daylight hours unless I leave my front gate open(never) for a stray to come on to the property. These chicken would never allow me to contain them to their run(they say "that ain't happening"). Sure they think the hawks are a bother but if they aren't worried neither am I. And I pity the 4 legged predator that would wander on to my property as my 225 pound pack of dogs would make short work of that.

Oh our dogs are union dogs they only do the day shift. With very limited night time hours. I will behave and go back to locking them up so "you" can sleep better @KikisGirls :p also its springtime and my predators are more numerous too.
Phew...thank you!
I will be able to sleep again!!
:woot

13 eggs today from 17 hens. 6 white and 7 brown. I'm afraid that I will have to do butt checks since leghorns are supposed to lay daily. I'd hate to think that we'd have another issue. But it's not spring yet.

Congratulations @AllenK@new2this ! 2 eggs. Time to open a roadside stand. You really should taste them. Fresh eggs are amazing. Thick, rich creamy. Nothing compared to store bought. Maybe I'm prejudiced (I am), so compare them and let us know what you think. I know I'm upsetting the dogs infringing on their treats. You are missing out.

Time for me to reduce the head count since the egg business is way too competitive around these parts. That or I'm a terrible sales person. Both are possibilities.

I have been secretly missing your daily egg reports, just don't tell anyone!

I do believe we were visited by a raccoon last night, as the last Navel Orange I had left on the tree for my Green Jays(which I noticed they had started working on) is no longer there but completely torn open on the ground under some cover. No idea what really shreeded it open but that is my best guess.
