Leghorns -19 weeks to first eggs

Pics
11 eggs yesterday. Due to the weather change?
15 eggs today. the 17 girls getting wound up. It will be interesting when we hit 17 out of 17.

One of them has a dirty butt again. I'm gonna shave them all. Bikini beach ready!
Wow 11 I have only 2/5 of mine currently laying that I know of. I know that they will start laying more than I ever want soon, actually they already are. But wow a dozen in a day!

Allen - I've recently started the bacon again. Eggs do better in bacon or sausage grease. Preferably fresh, but lard will work. A little dab will do you.

I tried the olive oil. Mehh. What is it about pig grease?
It is just the source, pig back fat doesnt stike me as appetizing. Sure it tastes great, but research "Wellfleisch" I have eaten that too at a slaughterfestival" Schlactfest it is just the thought of having a pig corpse hanging there while you strip off its top 3 inches of flesh that grosses me out and then of course you fry it up in more lard.

Oh yes I forgot to mention it is served over a wonderful bed of sauerkraut that is usually cut wide and oh so tasty, but I digress.

Just me but I am a borderline vegetarian unless you serve me drive by tacos!

Also I think you need to open up a Brazillian hen waxing business on the side!

Edit- Just seems like something you would be good at.

I was convinced we were about to lose power tonight as the rain, lightning and thunder has been horrid for the last hour. Sooooo, I turned up the heat and now it is so hot here inside the house as all the lighting and cloud to ground stuff had me convinces we were losing power.

We only had 2 inches of rain in the last hour, but that will keep my free rangers in grass through the spring!

.... My home grown eggs are totally richer looking than everything... from the grocery store. Incredibly deep yellow yolks vs pale looking ones from the egg factories....

As a former commercial egg producer let me say that most house wives who grew up on the farm during the depression prefer pale egg yokes. It's one of those things , "you don't know what you got till it's gone." By applying the law of scale to egg production producing dark yellow yolks is cheaper feed wise, than producing light yellow yolks. The egg producer must go where the customers are and over years and years of research dark yellow yolks don't comand the price light yokes do. In other words, many people are put off by the stronger taste, 'but I ain't one'

So at the moment I think I have either all 4 or 5 laying but with only 11 hours of sun daily am averaging 2 eggs a day from them. My wife already decided they are going to the dogs tonight and I don't feel like arguing yet over the taquiro idea so just letting that one go. Pretty much all of them are doing the creepy submissive squat and that is why I don't think it is just the two layers.

4 eggs today! Pretty good for 5 young layers, I only had the off white pinks so tomorrow will probably be the straight off whiter! So I'm sure I have 5 total egg producers! One seems to have moved into the 50 gram range so they must be getting larger.

Used them all this evening scrambled for the dogs so they get paid for their services.

Too Cute Allen!

We got 14 eggs yesterday and I'm sitting listening to one egg song. So we have eggs in the box and I should go get them before dirty butt strikes. AGAIN! Went to washing all the eggs. Just too much rain. I went to get dry sand yesterday and wound up looking at 3 pallets of waterlogged sand. Oops.

Should be close to finishing fencing the garden area today. If it stops raining. I splurged and got more water proof boots yesterday. My other THREE pairs of work boots are drenched. The drought was bad, but the wet is back!

Speaking of winter, I really enjoyed being outside without mosquitos. Sigh. hello summer...
