Lemon Fast Diet - Some questions

Quote:
+1

Work out, eat healthy, come to a natural and healthy weight.

Starve, be hungry, come to an unnatural weight and gain the weight back later.

And for what it is worth, I gain weight whey I exercise as well, but that is my natural weight so I'm happy with it.

Best of luck with your diet, but please please please just eat healthy and get some aerobic exercise.

ditto eating a balanced diet - watch the carbs. don't know anything about the diet, but eating alot of lemons can eat the enamel off your teeth. I ate alot when I was a kid and my enamel is in horrible shape:

Also consider that winter isn't the time of year that is 'normal' for lemons either - so you wouldn't be getting the best available - they'd be imported.

I had a friend who did it one summer - just as a cleanse. I think it is just a fad-type thing and agree with the others about doing more research.

I am not really seeing how a weird short-term near-fast diet would "be a great way to start a healthy eating habit" as you're looking for...?

It seems to me that the way to eat healthy is to EAT healthy, you know?

Agree with those who've suggested that a) lack of energy is not necessarily abnormal but that also b) it would be a good idea, if you haven't already, to see a Dr about testing for anemia or thyroid issues, as both can sap energy and/or make it hard to lose weight. (Edited to add: depression, even mildly, can also produce exactly the sort of problem you're describing, fwiw).

Best of luck,

Pat

HI, Many will chime in and say this isn't healthy for you. It is in fact ONE Of the few healthiest. Many vegetarian or vegan programs will promote a fast cleaning, when they do - they recommend the Master Cleanse which is also known as the Lemon Diet, Lemonade diet, etc. Yes, there is no protein - but the whole aspect of this diet is not to LOSE weight, but to cleanse your colon and body, giving your colon a rest, etc.

So, to answer your question - Yes you need to use the right Grade of syrup, it is the kind that has the nutrients, what not that you need to acheive the results you are seeking.

The lemon alkalizes your body to give you the energy.

Cayenne boosts your metabolism to speed along the cleansing.

So, the whole thing together is a package deal making it what it is - so that you can do it healthy. Remove or change any of those ingredients - you are no longer doing the master cleanse, and will not reap any benefits.

Google Master CLeanse, there's a lot of good links out there, just gotta find them.

1) My husband and his co-workers did this. They all reported feeling after the 5th day - energy, less muscle aches, allergies gone, digestive systems feeling better, and of course weight loss. But the weight does come back after you finish the cleanse. The only way to keep loosing what you have lost, is to go to a stright vegan diet. So, you can see that the MC is mainly for cleanse, not weight loss.

2) My sister in law did this, and felt like she had a sharper mind, her joints were no longer hurting.

Word of caution: you fee like crap day 1-5. It's because toxins are being released and cleaned out of your body. You need to do the tea, sea salt to get it out, so it's not floating around your body.

Anyways, all of this information comes from my reading up on it. I'm not licensed, certified, or whatever to back up what I say!

Good luck.

Even when I do a fast, I do not do the lemon/peper/syrup concoction. It gives you spikes in blood sugar which HAS to be followed by a crash in blood sugar. It is not really a good way to jump start a diet or get more energy. People fast for many reasons, but weight loss and increased energy are generally not sound reasons to fast. And the drink you are speaking of is down right dangerous

DITTO, DITTO, DITTO.... GO see a Dr. Find out if something very simple is out of whack, (anemia, thyroid, calcium etc) There are so many things that could be going on, not the least of which is mild depression which you should be screened for.

AFTER you get a clean bill of health, a change in lifestyle might be recommended depending on what your current diet is. One of the things your DR can refer you to is a nutritionist.

Why do you think Weight Watchers is making Billion of dollars off of eat less and exercise??? Because it works and they are a fantastic resource for what proper portion size is and how to read labels and how to eat healthy.

Good Luck to you!!

Believe me, I see a doctor every three months as well as have blood work done. I have had just about everything checked in my life time. It's not depression, thyroid or anything else. I am a type 1 diabetic, so I control my blood sugar very carefully. Currently, I am under the care of a nutritionist and I already eat a fairly balanced diet. I eat two or three small meals a day, rarely any meat, and very rarely do I snack. If and when I do it's usually fruit or vegetables, or even cheese. I eat nuts to keep my protein intake balanced. I'm also on a multi vitamin.

I have not bought any of the ingredients yet so I am definitely up for opinions. BTW, I would be under the care of a nutritionist and endocrinologist while on any sort of diet. I am not going into anything blindly. I have spoken to people who have done the lemon fast and like I said before, this would be more for the energy than for weight loss. The most I have heard people say they have lost is about ten pounds over a two week period. Ultimately I would love to lose more than that, but I fully understand it would not be through this fast.

Currently, the insulin I believe is what makes me hungry. I could be completely full and still have my mind telling me I am hungry. This alone has taken YEARS to overcome and it's still difficult.

I am still up for other options though, if anyone else would care to share. Just eating healthy and a little exercise here and there is not going to do it for me. For the most part, I already do that.

I'm not diabetic, but I was under the impression that complex carbohydrates are better for stabilizing blood sugar and making you feel full? I've heard black beans are supposed to be good for diabetics in particular.

While I don't endorse the lemon diet, I just read that diabetics should use molasses, not maple syrup: link
