OMG I know EXACTLY who you mean. I see him at thrift stores buying womens clothing. I used to work at one in Milwaukie and he would come in all the time. WHACKO! I moved to this town so I go to the stores in Salem and I STILL see him at these stores too. He's everywhere!!
wow, you guys have some serious nuts next door. mine all just fall under the nuisance category based upon some of these stories...
The lady with vaccuuming the grass clippings reminds me of a neighbor I had in Kentucky. I had a woman next door who was deaf and didn't work, so I think she just stayed home all day and thought up odd things to do. When I was running the sprinklers on my lawn she would come by and turn the water all the way down, so low that the sprinkler wouldn't turn around because some water would get on her yard. Seriously. So I'm watering part of your side yard for free. With new sod... not sure how that's a problem. My husband would not talk to her husband even though they were friendly and she did this thing with the faucet ALL THE TIME. And I wouldn't know b/c inside the house I could hear the water running, so I didn't know it was just on at a dribble. So I took out a big padlock and would lock the faucet on when watering. (Yeah, I guess I am mean!
). When we'd mow, we always would sweep up the grass clippings but never to her satisfaction and she would come and redo it. And she had her husband tell my husband that our mower deck height was too high and that we needed to mow lower to match theirs. Well again, NEW SOD we didn't want to scalp the yard. So we ignored them, so each week she'd come out and remow my side yard. Yeah, I hated to move away from that lunatic.
Now up here.... we are in the country this time and the woman directly next door is crazy. Always outside screaming at her husband at the top of her lungs. We all have long gravel driveways, she makes him take a little stool out there and dig up the weeds one by one. Evidently 'round up' is something they have never heard of. And when a section of our fence fell apart, my husband decided to move the fence closer to the property line.... So being the very responsible man he is, he borrowed a transat and located all the survey pins and we marked it with flags all the way down so that it was exactly right. This lady comes running out of her house, 9 mos pregnant, SCREAMING at the top of her lungs at me 'what did i think i was doing'. I just stood there in shock. She continues to scream that I am 'stealing her yard'. My husband came up and talked her down a bit. But she continued on and on about how the survey on file with the county was wrong and she had a proper copy and that the fence was hers, and her property line was way inside our old fence. Her husband was due to bring over the new survey. Needless to say, he never showed up.
Not only is the fence not hers but it was 30' inside our property. When we replaced the broken down section, we did move it out along the line but kept it inside enough that they won't be able to attach to it. :-D Evidently the lot size is her big thing. I guess the guy on the other side was guesstimating where to put his driveway.... he found the survey pin and stuck a wood marker in the ground where he guessed 15' inside the line was (per the rules). Well this woman called a surveyor had them come out and move this guy's wooded marker the 4 more inches to make it rally 15' inside his line. Uhm seriously if you can afford to have a surveyor come out all the time, you have more money than sense.
Other weird things about them.... their house is massive. I mean probably over 5000 sq ft. And they moved in, with stuff from the tiniest UHaul you can rent. They have no furniture at all. But like 4 or 5 kids. And they have lived there for 4 yrs and they have no curtains or blinds. I can see right inside their bedrooms all night. Odd.
I'm sure I could go on and on but I just can't type that much!
LOL
But I am thankful that mine (while odd) seem harmless. My heart goes out to you with the evil neighbors. If someone threatened my animals or family members, I don't know what I would do. (I do know what I'd LIKE to do..... haha)
Ok I have a neighbor who is crazy. Here are a few of the nutty things he does:
- Pours 4 gallons of water over his car every morning. He parks on the street and there are no tress anywhere so I do not know what he is trying to get off but whatever.
- He is very tall and very skinny. he puts on his short 1980's shorts and striped socks pulled all the way up with his grey velcro shoes, a white t-shirt and a sweat band on his head. He turns on the radio (I have never gone outside to hear what he is listening to) and are you ready for this, he throws a frisbee to himself and catches it? It is very odd and he will do it for hours.
- He came over one day and told me a guy let his dog poop in my yard and that the next time I see it to get him and he will "Take care of the Guy". He said that type of behavior was spreading disease! Now keep in mind he is telling this to a person with 5 dogs and a million chickens. I just thought OK crazy.
Any way that is just a few stories about my crazy neighbor.
One of our neighbors isn't crazy, just a little too cosmic for our tastes... He plays the bongo drums, and occasionally has fellow bongo boys over for a bongo fest. Groovy, man.
In defense of the guy who shot our cat, it was a Maine Coon that we had just shaved for the summer (started getting matted faster than we could brush) and I think he thought it was a stray. I don't believe he would have done it if he knew it was our cat. We get a lot of strays out here - for some reason people think abandoning unwanted house cats in the woods is ok

Oh. I wish someone has posted about our neighbor in Nebraska. She was mental crazy and I felt sorry for her but her family nor the police would do anything about it. She honked her horn all the time no matter what time of day or night it was as she was coming home or leaving. She was in her 60's but was an acoholic sczophric nut case. She really needed help. she barked like a dog and all sorts of things. If you walked on her sidewalk she's scream and cuss you out to get off her property. She'd come bang on my windows in the middle of the night screaming "wake up, wake up lazy butt!" She tormented my dogs and cats and me. She chased a stray cat through her front yard in her car and almost ran into her house! She tried to plow my puppy and me down in our own front yard one day when we were outside playing while she was away when she got back home. I swear she was centimeters from running over my puppy's paws and my toes. I was really glad to get out of there. She needed help but nobody would give it to her they all told me to ignore her she was old and had lived there her entire life but she was pretty hard to ignore.
my neighbors across the road have a doggie day care and the neighbors one one side of us and down a wee bit is family then the people behind us have chickens and live on a farm and are sweet as can be :] then our neighbors on the other side of us are our great friends so we have good neighbors :]
I think I'm the crazy neighbor......sometimes I have flowers out front, sometimes I don't...sometimes I mow the grass, sometimes I don't, .....I'm the only one with chickens, everyone else has cows and dogs, I wear my crocs with socks, and I drive a 4 door Buick like its a farm truck.
