Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

My little gosling is alive!!!!!! He is doing good. He is having some balance issues. Looks like he will be a special needs gosling. I will have to make him a doughnut hole towel to prop him up. The good thing about today is that another hatched, so he has a sibling to keep him company. Perfect timing!

The one egg that was rocking died in shell did not even internally pip. I checked it today. So took more out of the reptopro and put them into the R-com. They are the next ones due to hatch. I have 2 more different sets to move as they grow....

FINALLY! I've been sick for about a week and haven't been on here....you guys have been busy!!! I finally read all the posts I was behind on...congrats to everyone with new babies and so sorry to the ones who have lost babies. Trust me, I feel your pain and enjoyment. This gosling hatching biz is a bumpy ride, huh!?!

Here's my update...I had two due to hatch since I was last online...the first one never made it to internal pipping and when I did the eggtopsy, I found a sweet little buff gosling inside but to my surprise, her intestines were on the outside of her body so something clearly went wrong in the process...In this instance, I'm glad she didn't actually make it to hatch and that she died peacefully in her shell. My second baby was another absolutely beautiful buff dewlap! She pipped at the wrong spot but she's since made it out and she's doing great!

This brings my total up to THREE! Not very good out of eight full term eggs but I have to remind myself to be grateful for the living and not focus on the bad. I still have several eggs in the bator but have decided that whatever else the girls lay, I'm going to let them have. Gertrude especially wants to be a mommy so I'm giving her what she wants. I figure after all the eggs she's given me this season, it's the least I can do! She's already given me over twenty eggs and is still laying! She's such a great goose! I'll post pics of the babies asap.

It is indeed a bumpy ride!! Congrats on the new buff!! Also makes me happy to hear you got 20 eggs from your girl. My main two girls have laid 15 each now and I'd be super happy to get another 10+ eggs from them!

for pics!

I hatched off a white chinese at work 2 weeks ago. He thinks he is a human and that I am his mom. He will follow me everywhere when I let him out. It is too funny.

I had to break him out of his egg--pipped on thursday mornng and made no progress by friday. So I broke him out and call him Rocky(didn't think he was gonna make it) But he is doing great.

I have two external pippers!! I can hear them peeping at me.

I have a few Seb eggs for sale on the 24 hr Auction thread, if anyone is interested. I don't want goslings hatching around the time my niece is due to be born, so I thought I'd sell them.

I still have a whole 8 days to go before I get any hatches under my broody geese. On the other hand, I can't believe its been a whole month already since they started!

I keep trying to upload pictures of the girls, but it won't let me. It's been "just a moment" for the last 2 1/2 hours.
