Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

I have 11 duck eggs and 1 goose egg set to hatch the 20th. I awoke to a surprise this morning though and one lone duck egg has to pips on it. Ahh! So I filled up the reservoirs with water, new damp sponges and everyone is laying on their sides. I wasn't expecting to need to lockdown this early. I am not up with the terms- I haven't heard anyone peeping, nor seen moving eggs - just egg #11 had first one pip then an hour layer a second pip right next to it. I assumed I should lockdown now for the sake of this one that seems to be in a hurry.

There is always an early one lol

I candled tonight. 4 out of the first 6 goose eggs set have large air cells, movement and one internal pip. The one i had to wax didnt make it. My chicks are internally pipped, 9 of them developed. So i moved them and the 4 goose eggs to the hatcher. Crossing fingers that they all hatch healthy.
The other 3 goose eggs are due next wednesday and only 2 have wigglers. I hope they make it.
If all goes well ill have baby pics by the end of the week. :-D

I candled more eggs last night (day 7) and had to remove 2 very nasty eggs and also some that did not quite look right. So now down to 10 eggs all with fantastic veins (from 17 eggs).
Misted and took out of the incubator for 10mins and weighed them aswell and they all appear to have lost around 10grams in one week. Is this normal? Some of the larger eggs have to loose 28grams as they are so large (13% weight loss over the month incubation roughly im going by).
The No's are:
Starting weight wk 1 Amount to loose (13%)
Egg 1 216g 206g 28g
Egg 2 205g 192g 26g
Egg 3 187g 180g 24g
Egg 4 182g 174g 23g
Egg 5 175g 165g 22g
Egg 6 159g 151g 20g
Egg 8 156g 146g 20g
Egg 9 150g 142g 19g
Egg 10 200g 194g 26g

Is this okay so far?

So far so good though you are a little over and will reach a target loss of around 15% around 21 days. What temperature and humidity are you at?

My little gosling is alive!!!!!! He is doing good. He is having some balance issues. Looks like he will be a special needs gosling. I will have to make him a doughnut hole towel to prop him up. The good thing about today is that another hatched, so he has a sibling to keep him company. Perfect timing!

Such good news kg,  :thumbsup

Thank you. He is doing so much better this morning. I put him in a doughnut hole (towel) yesterday evening and last night. He and his sibling snuggled up last night and slept together. By him remaining still and calm last night, he was able to get more balance and get stronger. This morning he was out of the towel and walking around the brooder. There is hope for this little guy. I'm so happy that he will make it. I was worried all night long.
