Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

The gosling is starting to move a little stronger. I'll wait until the 30 hour point to check him for vessels. Its been 27 hours so far since i found he had pipped. Still not vocal yet but hes hanging in there. Thanks Pete and everyone else.

Remember to simply work around the head area and use candling to check for vessels and void space where the yolk sac would have been. The common problem is pressure on the head which sometimes mishapes the skull. However this does correct over a few days. Also by working in this area then only the head and neck are freed and the gosling can be left in the 'lower' part of the shell and left to rest. This allows further drying of the umbilical vessels and area. Once the gosling regains strength it can be left to kick itself free in the normal manner.

I often find goslings to be quiet for 12 to 18 hours after pipping. After this time they seem stronger and both movement and peeping increases.

Hi everyone - I am sooo excited - I just candled my eggs - 6 American Blues and 4 Pomeranians - we are on day 21 and I could actually see the air sac, veins and in some of the eggs some movement - Thanks to everyone for all your posts. It's great to hear what is happening with everyone's hatches.

You've clearly caught the incubation bug and enjoying it. Congratulations on your fertile eggs. Best of luck with them and enjoy the learning curve

Pete ;)

Thanks Pete - I wanted you to know that thanks to all your posts -- I am nervous - but feel pretty confident that I can find any answers that I need right here. Thanks for all your work on helping us all.

Pete, in case you missed my post before..... when are your 1st dewlap eggs scheduled to hatch? Isn't it this week??

The little backwards baby looks to be moving more and more. I havent opened it, just looking through the window. Hes at 38 hours now. If he makes it hes not going anywhere no matter if hes a goose or a gander or if hes a special needs baby. Im already attached lol.
The others are doing great, hopping around and nuzzling my hand. I havent taken any pics yet i want to wait for this lil guy to come out. I dont want to jinx it. I think the whole little family should be together for their first photos. This is worrying me to death, i dont know if i want to set the other 20 eggs or not. I forgot about how it was last year even with no problems with those 15 eggs. It tore me up just watching part of them go with their new family. It sounds silly probably but im not hard hearted like some people and just see dollar signs when i look at animals. I have good people wanting future goslings. Its still gonna be hard. Sorry for rambling, the family gets sick of hearing about the geese and chickens all the time. So glad to have found this site.
