Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

Well today when I got home from dialysis went over to et my geese out for the day and Gloria was off her nest of eggs. So went in to look and see how they were doing. They were gone. Something rolled them right out from under her... I hate raccoons!!!!!

Here are pics of my latest grey dewlap hatchling. He is a spunky little guy and gets along well with the week-old goslings.

I moved my ducks and bigger geese from the house yard to the creek yard yesterday. My husband and I had a nice picnic dinner sitting by the creek and hanging out with the birds this evening. We watched them run up and down the shallow water for awhile, then they came up on the bank beside us and fell asleep en masse. It was all quite pastoral and mellow... until my gray African Embden started snoring!

Kind of ruined the mood, but not necessarily in a bad way.

Thanks for the info.

The goslings are 2 weeks and 4 weeks old. The oldest ones are just getting their pin feathers on their wings. Weather is going to be gales and rain tomorrow. Im going to either have to separate the foster parents (them outside and babies inside) or have all the birds inside for the whole day....

What would be best???

Also the one pipping in the incubator out of the wrong end appears to be okay. We have left it for 9 hrs and then we peeled back some of the shell leaving the membrane intact. It appears to be doing the rest, just hope it is absorbing the egg yoke.

Also have another 2 pipping at the moment, so that makes 1 out of the egg and 5 pipping in the incubator!
IF the adults are taking care of them.. then they SHOULD be ok as long as the adults don't have to deal with flooding. If you separate the adults SHOULD take them back without a problem after you feel it's safe. That's the best advice I can give ... every animal is different and has different parenting abilities. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks, guys! I have not hatched a single buff yet, but hope I will soon! I have two eggs from my trio going into lockdown this weekend, 10 more eggs cooking in the bator, and will set more tomorrow. I cannot believe my girls are still laying, as they have laid 30 and 26 eggs respectively without taking any breaks or going broody.
