Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

I hope so as 5 turned into 7 by this morning

my 4th Sebbie baby hatched all by itself at 6 am this morning. Why do they always hatch when I'm at work or asleep? This one I'll call Quatro for now...and I'll upload pics later when I get home from work. It was still pretty wet at noon and didn't have it's walking legs yet...pretty stumbly and floppy still. They're so cute when they're like that and their little heads look like preemie babies still. :)

Ducklings #2&3 are out (with my assistance). They are tired, but doing well. First hatch 0-4. Second hatch 4-0.

Next hatch in a few days.

Congrats you guys!!

Hatch day for me is around the 20th. Goose egg #2 is still developing and moving. My lone goose egg. The duck eggs appear to be doing very well also!

Question for you pro hatchers. I'm hatching duck eggs- I assume it's not too different from chicken...

My eggs do not look like that. I still have quite a ways to go yet and my eggs really look a lot like the ones at the bottom...like day 21 or so. I will get some pics tonight. They are wigglers and seem to be fine. Because I have goose eggs in I have to cool and mist them daily- I just go ahead and give the duck eggs the same treatment. Should I be concerned they look SO far advanced? Some of the eggs look like where they should be, some look like they are daysssss ahead of the others.

Here is the new pair still in bator drying out and the gosling/duckling duo all fluffed up and running around their pen.

zooweema, I've never hatched chicken eggs so I cannot compare. I treat my duck eggs the same as my goose eggs. If you are using a still air, it is very possible to have some eggs further along than others. I tend to lock down when the frontrunners have significant shadows in aircell, then once the ones that can hatch unassisted have done so, will assist the remaining laggers.

Yes I have still air. I've been trying to move them around too. I guess that's mot helping lol! A friend hatched some of my eggs for me and he had some hatching when he went to lockdown. So I guess around day 25- I should keep an eye out and/or should I bring up the humidity a little early?

Thanks! It will be sad to see the gosling/duckling duo leave for their new home on Thursday, but I'll get to keep the 2nd duckling pair until the weekend.

Still air styro bators are extremely temperamental, but with close attention can still have good hatches, even if the eggs are not all on the same schedule. Since the humidity in my bator room is 16%, I often bump humidity to 50s around day 24. Then I can get it above 75% faster when I think they are getting ready to internally pip. I'd rather err on the side of bumping humidity too soon than deal with shrink wrap.

Congrads J, how cute. Monday all the rest of my goslings went tot heir new home. I am with no goslings right now. But I need the rest for hopefully more new hatches. I have eggs in both incubators at different stages. I hope we get more gosling to hatch.

Samantha is out sitting on some eggs we shall see if she hatches any. My husband and I pulled Ginger off her nest because all the eggs were bad from two exploding on the rest. Well, Ginger did not like that at all. But she took a bath and refreshed herself. Then later that evening when I went to feed there Ginger was she had took Hanna's nest of eggs. This is one broody goose! Now I can not get her off Hanna's nest.

I caught the cuties thing the other day. I went out to do waters and Samantha was sitting on her nest as usual but there right on thee edge of the nest sits Grant her mate. He was sitting on eggs! He got up to tell me get the heck out of here. But I had to change the water in the very end pen.
My ganders seem to get in and help the girls some by help building the nest or to help maybe sit. I found that to be so cute.

Nikki our lavender curly gander was in with Ginger and so was Hanna. Because Nikki knows that is Hanna's nest but Ginger would not get out. So Hanna was standing on top of Ginger. What a mess.
