SWEET!Uh-oh. I thinks I want some...!![]()
Congrads J, how cute. Monday all the rest of my goslings went tot heir new home. I am with no goslings right now. But I need the rest for hopefully more new hatches. I have eggs in both incubators at different stages. I hope we get more gosling to hatch.
Samantha is out sitting on some eggs we shall see if she hatches any. My husband and I pulled Ginger off her nest because all the eggs were bad from two exploding on the rest. Well, Ginger did not like that at all. But she took a bath and refreshed herself. Then later that evening when I went to feed there Ginger was she had took Hanna's nest of eggs. This is one broody goose! Now I can not get her off Hanna's nest.
I caught the cuties thing the other day. I went out to do waters and Samantha was sitting on her nest as usual but there right on thee edge of the nest sits Grant her mate. He was sitting on eggs! He got up to tell me get the heck out of here. But I had to change the water in the very end pen.
My ganders seem to get in and help the girls some by help building the nest or to help maybe sit. I found that to be so cute.
Nikki our lavender curly gander was in with Ginger and so was Hanna. Because Nikki knows that is Hanna's nest but Ginger would not get out. So Hanna was standing on top of Ginger. What a mess.![]()
Thank you SO much! This is very helpful!
Hi Iain:
They are Toulouse/Embden.
I purchased eggs from a local farmer and was told I'd get one, the other, or both. LOL
I just call them cute! I especially love the looks of G2.![]()
Sigh. Guess I better cross my fingers that I hatch out at least one extra! lol
I had 3 out of 6 hatch. Took them out to graze and play in the grass for some exercise on Easter when they reached 24 hours old and their daddy stole them from me and he has had them ever since.Their Mamma was a bit leary and it took her a few days to warm up to them but now it's almost like she hatched them out herself. They are being great parents!![]()
I think its fabulous that they will adopt them back! What a wonderful thing to watch!
7 more eggs in the 'bator going into lockdown next weekend.
Where did you get the barrels?FM ~ We just used regular screws right through the plastic barrels. I am trying to find some metal banding to wrap around the top and bottom to make them look like whiskey barrels. It was only 7 ~ 6' foot cedar fence boards cut in half (at Home Depot, and they did the cutting for me) . So all I had to do is come home and screw em' to the drum. Cost about $10 each to make! It turned out really nice, I think I might make a few more (cut the drum in half to make two) and put them out front around the mailbox! So much cheaper than pots, and cheaper & sturdier.![]()
Its nice ~ the top and bottom I had hubby cut to make gosling/duckling pools! So they can play in them and not drown. (also make great feeders!)
