Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

Found a hidden nest today with 7 Embden eggs, so in to the incubator they went

I have 6 girls so hopefully I can start setting weekly. I will keep my fingers crossed. I tried with some early December eggs, but was unable to get anything to hatch.

I am up to a hatch along - would like to get tips and ideas to improve hatch rates.

Ruru, sorry you lost a few eggs in the gander fight, but sounds like you will have plenty to set with 8 girls!!

Grassman, welcome and congrats!! X2 what Psue said about Pete's guide. It makes a big difference in successful hatching.

Have not heard from Pete in awhile I sure hope all is well with him and the family!!!!! YES, thank you my dear friend Pete for the incubation method.........

J yes, I will have plenty of eggs let's hope I can get some of the girls to go broody when ready. I can only hatch so many with not enough incubators.......

I hear ya. I have 3 female Muscovies I want to set a few eggs under, if any ever go broody.

I have 10 fertile goose eggs, but no incubator and none of my three geese are going broody.

But if I could I would love to do a hatchalong. They would be Dewlap toulouse/shetland crosses.

Count me in! I am setting eggs just about every week until I run out of room or the sebbies stop laying

My first ones are due March 9/10th, but the ones I am really excited about are just being laid now.

I put the 10 of the 13 eggs in the one incubator 02-24-13. Put the other 3 in the R-com, they are Ginger and Hanna eggs. I am not too sure about how well other incubator will do. I am running our R-com on a more dry humidty. This other one I am running dry as well. I will keep an eye on them by weighing them to see percentage of moisture loss and then put wet clean wash cloths in the other incubator. The R-com I can just put the water in there area for it.
There is no where in the other incubator to put water. I could also put a very small bowl with water in it too.

Dwen, any thoughts to picking up a cheap $60 Styrofoam incubator? They are not great, but it is what I use and I hatched more than a few waterfowl babies in it last year. I can't imagine what a dewlap/Shetland cross would look like. Got pics?

Goose, I can't wait to see pics of your babies. Your birds are gorgeous!! Still waiting for my most prized breeders to start laying, but at least I can hopefully work out any incubating kinks with my African eggs first since every egg from my two best girls will be extremely precious.

Ruru, congrats on setting more eggs!! I am going to set a few more eggs today or tomorrow, too... and I'm super happy that my 1st 3 test eggs are all fertile and developing!
