I candled my first 7 Embden eggs at one week old this morning looks like at least 6 are fertile (one is hard to see) - set two more goose eggs and 22 Muscovy eggs. I am up to 23 hatched ducklings this spring, still fighting my duck hatch rates - hope I do better with the goose eggs

I just got my incubator Wed and today I just put in 11 gray chinese geese. This will be my first time with goose eggs, so wish me luck.

Glad you found the thread. There are lots of experienced hatchers here that can help if you need it. Good luck!

Breeding pens are set up except for Gary and Mimi. They are going to one last show in two weeks and neither are breeding yet.

Now just waiting for eggs.

Jean, right on. That's got to feel good. How many geese do you have?

My youngest African girl laid her 1st egg today, which means all 6 girls are laying now.

Now if only my buff dewlap girls would start laying. They keep teasing me by making nests and testing them out.... even doing a weird laying position with arched back and butt in air from time to time... but nothing yet.

Just set my first goose eggs on Wednesday (27th). Bought 6 Embden eggs from a local farmer. I've hatched chicken and ducks with really good success, but these will be my first geese. Fingers crossed! 26-28 days, right?

my Embdens took 32 last spring
28 is ducks
35 scovies

Daisy, welcome to the thread and congrats on the eggs! 29-31 days is more typical for geese, unless they are Psue's embdens, which took forever to hatch last year.
