Too funny. I know what you mean. I'm a Krazy Kuntrygirl - I know. Well, I look at it this way.........I don't have any kids, so no diapers or milk or clothes or extra food to buy, so that keeps a few dollars in my pocket. I don't like to shop and waste money on clothes, jewelry, makeup or perfume, so that that keeps a few dollars in my pocket. I use coupons and only buy things on sale, so that keeps a few dollars in my pocket. I recycle EVERYTHING that I can, to include building materials, so that keeps a few dollars in my pocket. I get A LOT of free stuff on craigslist and from family, friends and co-workers, so that keeps a few dollars in my pocket. I'm not sick and never have to go to the doctor, so I don't have to waste money on doctor's visits or medications, so that keeps a few dollars in my pocket. So all of those dollars that I keep in pocket, allow me to feed all of my animals.

If you saw me on the weekend, you would think that I was homeless with the holes in my clothes that I wear in the chicken yard. I look a total mess. But I clean up well when it's time for work on Monday. I feel that clothes, jewelry, perfume , etc don't make me happy but my animals do. I figure that when I die, people won't say that I wore the best of clothes and jewelry or smelled good, they will say that I loved my animals and I had a good heart. And that is worth more than a million dollars.

Kuntrygirl...I just went and looked at all your pics! I absolutely adore the little chocolate colored lamb and the turkeys and duck all sitting on top of each other to set eggs is hysterical! Looks like you live in paradise to me!

Thank you. I just love my little place with all of my critters. I am in my yard ALL day on the weekends just piddling around . I have chairs out there and I just sit out there with some tea or lemonade with my radio and just relax.

I am trying to save a few dollars to have a small pond dug, so I can see my ducks and geese swim. I have about 7 kiddie pools that are always filled with fresh water every day but I want to see them swim one day. If I keep clipping coupons, I think I can save enough money for that pond.

Congrads on all the new hatchs of goslings to everyone!!! GO BABIES.

I have sold all my 2 different hatches. Now waiting for the weather to get warm enopugh to ship them off. Growing like weeds let me tell you. Demanding little brats. Boy do they like celey chopped up fine! The older ones I give a chunck and they paly with it and chew it down.

Have been checking on Ginger and her eggs. Guess beacuse it has been colder here it will take longer to hatch them. I thought I seen a pip on one of the eggs. Hers were due to hatch April 2nd. Better late than never.

I have 6 eggs in the digital incubator.

Have 12 eggs in the other incubator.

I'm with ya hun. I'm not having the best season either. I do have one happy healthy baby so far but lost three others.

Here's to the rest of our hatches going fabulously!!

I have plenty of eggs growing in the incubator. Surely a few will hatch. I have 1 African and 3 duck eggs going into lockdown today, but it will be a couple more weeks before my first dewlap is scheduled to hatch.

I hear ya!! I have my 'coop clothes' and my 'regular clothes'. When I get up in the morning, I pull my coop clothes OVER my pajamas in order to go open doors!

You know I'm planning work in the yard based on what I'm wearing. Too funny. What the heck, my birds love me and it provides entertainment value for my family.

I am on Day 21 with my Toulousse and Embden eggs. I got 13 from a local farmer and put 3 under a broody hen and 10 in the incubator. ALL of them proved fertile!

Everything seems to be progressing well with all of them so far. Scary, because I only have 2 pre-sold!!

QUESTION: Do I stop turning on Day 27, or candle all and determine based on the air cell. And then, is it the air cell of the majority or does it just have to be one or two?

I do the same thing putting my coop clothes over my pajamas. LOL Yes, Pete's information was what I read to get started and it was VERY helpful. And I agree with you as far as the other experiences with incubating and hatching goose eggs. Reading other experiences and all of the posts and replies on this thread is what allowed me to hatch gosling.

..... I am also on April hatch along with chickens... but I do have painted goose eggs in the bator right now

They were a mistake order that was accidentally sent to me, when I already had an incubator full... so they went in a borrowed still air for 4 days until I candled the chicken eggs and removed the clears and then a silky went broody so I gave her several and had enough room in my brinsea for 4 goose eggs
when I candled them at day 8 ..1 was deff. clear.... 5 looked very good with some movement and 2 looked like they had some development but only half as much as the others.... I tossed the clear put the 4 best in the brinsea and the other 3 went back to the still air (it either runs cold or hot so today I had a Sussex go broody and I gave her the 3 goose eggs.....

here is my question...

1) will she be able to raise them? both chickens and ducks free range together, but I am concerned about them recognizing her as the mom.....

and my chicken eggs are due to hatch saterday and lockdown will be tonight!!!! and I am concerened about not being able to turn them and the extra high humidity during the chicken hatch.....

2) Should I take out the two half formed eggs, and give her all five good goose eggs to hatch her self... she is big and can cover them all (up to five) or do I have a better chance of them hatching in the bator... they are due to hatch in 2 weeks.....

I put four sebastapol eggs in the incubator yesterday. This is my first try at geese. We have one tolouse my daughter used her for showmanship at our last show. The judge love seeing my nine year old lugging the goose around. I am sure I will have lots of questions

Iain...I have two scheduled to hatched between now and a couple days. One is looking good and the other hasn't lost enough weight. The air cell isn't big enough. I keep hoping I'm going to candle and see that sudden drop down but no such luck. I've been cooling it twice a day, sometimes three times, hoping it will drop but so far...nuthin. I'm still hopeful but not counting on it. I hate to see them survive this long only to lose them at hatch. It's so upsetting!
