Thanks for sharing!

    8 geese a laying

I had some  Hookbills do that and they were all twisted up last year. I gave them  some Niacin in their  water and they were normal in a  couple days. Also  ,  I  always put  some
tiny  bits of grass or lettuce in  every day in their  water or nearby.

Thanks ill get some. They eat great which made me think they had a chance at surviving. I gave them grass today they ate that very well and since then they seemed to have gotten a bit better they arent flipping backwards. Still walking in circles.

Hatching update:
#11 hatched tonight. Another backward pip but its healthy and its brown. So that was 4 backward pippers 2 healthy and 2 flippers. 9 white and 2 brown. Anyways my duck
hatching is done, i can rest now until the 18 th when the goose eggs are due. Then im done!
Threw out 11 bad eggs last night and im down to 12 in the bator now but they look like strong wigglers. Knowing me i might change my mind and set the 15 eggs i have collected. I think i must be bonkers if i do try again lol

8 if you decide to use niacin be sure to get plain niacin not the flush free or time release. or you can get Brewers yeast and sprinkle it on their feed. niacin 100-150 meg per gallon of water. BY is 1 Tab to 1 cup of feed. Hope you see improvements quick.

Good morning, hatching friends. My next dewlap egg is working on making its external pip bigger and is looking great. I expect it will hatch out early evening with no problem... and I bet it's a boy! The other dewlap appears to have hit a vein while turning into hatching position, as I see reddish staining in the air cell. It has not internally pipped yet, but is still moving.

it hatches ok, because I bet it is a girl.

Hope everyone is enjoying their new babies!

Can I still play even though my geese have all hatched?

I have 17 muscovies and 5 more Welsh Harlequins in lockdown now. One of the scovies decided to hatch last week (a week early), but didn't make it through the night. Now another one has externally pipped, but the egg is darkly discolored around the pip. He's about two days early, too.

I put the Welshie eggs in a separate incubator from the scovies so that I can identify them when they hatch. After what happened last time, there's no telling what they'll look like!

I think its pretty cool that we have staggered our hatches together, and yours always hatch a few days prior to mine!

Well I opened my hatcher this morning to a BUNCH more ducklings, Ohiki's, a guniea keet, and some chicks....

Then I hatched 2 goose eggs from my birds. And yes my Tootsie x Rollie pair Sebbie gosling is purdy but ANOTHER boy!!! I have 5 girls presold, and I have hatched 6 boys straight

I did however Get my 1st MULE egg (AND is another BOY)!!!
That popped out last night while I was asleep

Best of luck with a great duck hatch!

We have a baby goose! I set 6 eggs, hatch was a bust. I set 4 eggs and 1 hatched (this one). Set 4 more eggs and 1 is growing wonderfully. Shellie from Celtic Oaks is amazing FYI! <3 xxx Wonderful tips and encouragement! I was totally hatching wrong and she caught it. Yay!

So my little dilemma NOW is that I have a long gosling. I have never had a gosling hatchling. EVER. Just the babies we got from Metzers and there were 2 of them. I have two 3 week old ducklings I reserved from a prior hatch just in case but right now they are way way too big from my baby Brown African. I have 3 and 4 week old chicks. We have the gear for a gosling but what we don't have right now is a buddy. The next viable goose egg isn't set to hatch for 15 more days. Two weeks! ahh! I WILL have ducklings hatching around that same time. The 19th/20th of this month for the ducks and lone goose egg.

I am going to check with a local goose breeder and see if she has any very young goslings I could buy. But beyond that...I guess we sorta 'parent' the gosling until she can be big enough to be with the ducklings that are 3 weeks older than she is?

Daisy Meadow, I use small plastic cable ties. They have to be tight enough not to fall off, so at the rate baby geese grow you have to check them and change them fairly often but they are inexpensive and you can get them almost anywhere .

I thought about cable ties after RURU suggested it, but the hubby is worried that they might get accidentally tightened by the other birds, then they may lose a foot. I'm thinking I'm just gonna draw a ring around the leg with a Sharpie and redraw it when it starts wearing off. I have safety leg bands that I can use as soon as they get big enough that they don't fall off.

Thanks for the suggestion, though!
