I hope they hatch out some babies! Keeping my fingers crossed.Today we checked the eggs under Ginger which were Hanna's. Nothing so we took them away from her. Now we have Sassafras, on eggs, Nesie on eggs and Sarina on stolen eggs. I do not believe any will hatch. This is it for the year. If none of these hatch I can see that leaving them with the girls is not the best idea.. Many of the girls just waited to long to go broody.
So we had a total of 17 goslings hatch this year. So much better than last year.
Plus I went and bought better wood to divide the pens properly. My husband still wanted to get the much thinner than I did on panels I said NO I am paying for it out of my gosling money so get them...........He got the cheap like wafer board the last time and it is not working right at all. So now we will be able to put the doors on right and the hook and eyes without them falling off and the geese getting through to each other and fight...![]()
Also got more welded wire to go around the pens so no more paws in to steal the eggs
from our girls...
I collected four eggs so far today, and saw active breeding when I changed pool water. So, hopefully more babies to come.
Thank you Aspen. Oh! I sold the lavender gander last week.
I am not sure how he got my email address. He contacted me interested in my Grey SB smooth breasted gander and seen the lavender and changed his mind and took the Lavender smooth breasted. He lives in NC. He might also be interested in the Grey SB later on this year in the fall.
The 3 goslings I am keeping 2 are from Lance and Gloria (Grey Curly) they are two Saddleback girls. Have to wait to see if curly breasted or Smooth Breasted. Then I have I believe Blue SB I am keeping. This one will be a Curly Breasted not sure if gander or goose. But have a gut feeling it will be a gander. Which is fine.
If I should have anymore goslings hatch from the girls sitting I hope to get some females.. I need to get and keep more females.
I cannot wait to see how all my goslings turn out this fall. I know I'll have some for sure keepers in the bunch. Once I decide who goes and who stays, I'll have to go about getting some different lines to go with my juvies next season.
Fingers and toes crossed!Yay for gathering eggs and new babies hatching!! It is turning into a pretty good hatching season this year.![]()
Barb, congrats again on having babies from Gloria! By the way, I love the colorful text in your posts. Very artistic.![]()
It's day 27 for my latest set of eggs and I have a couple of internal pips this morning in my hatcher, so will be locking it down this afternoon.for healthy hatches and at least one buff girl!!![]()
