Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

Yep yep! Toss 'em right into the frying pan that is!

I am really happy with the three that I kept, and my females in my breeding pens. It just seems harder to find males that are good size too. Fortunately I got one!

I'll be setting with you, what date you gonna set, 2 or 3 March? This will be my first time using the moon schedule so anxious to see if there is a noticeable difference. first time in many, many moons I'll be setting from mailed eggs, that too, will prove interesting. I'll some have some cots and chicken eggs going in the oven.

You have probably talked bout it in another thread, can you briefly discuss the importance of using a moon schedule?

one of you should start a thread for that. i'm down to set some buttons on a moon schedule right now i got about 200 cots and its just to much for my small piece of land

there are other moon threads in the incubation forum, just need to modify for the length of incubation.

I am not saying there is any voodoo or witchcraft involved and have hatched chicks at all times, but for me setting coturnix quail chicks with the shorter incubation time seem to fit nicely into this simple to remember formula.

set eggs on the full moon, lockdown on the new moon and they should hatch 3 days later. on the next full moon they are almost 2 weeks old. and you can set more eggs.
