Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

I am retrofitting the quail brooder with welded wire over top of the Formica to help prevent recurrence of slaughter. The little guys are growing well!:)

So I missed out here, I read up to page 15 and guess I ought to add my mug shot. I'm Tony I got addicted to hatching in 3rd grade science and got my 1st incubator for christmas when I was 14. Due to an unfortunate chain of events I work at a couple sale barns on occaision but for the most part a stay at home dad with my 2 toddlers. I've had all kinds of critters (rabbits, rats, chickens, quail, pheasant, pigeons, lizards, fish, and dogs) and can't be with out at least 1 or 2 running around, which makes my girlfreind frown in this economy,

. I've had a couple runs at bobwhite and 1 run at some cot eggs I picked up at an auction ( duds). But looking to make another run at cots next spring and hopefully get a quad I like so I can join in on these (they look like a blast). Born and raised in a small town in eastern Kansas and looking for my break for some land so I too can be over run with critters. Well here's me, I'm not as purdy as all these quail loven gal's but hopfully I won't kill the thread, lol.

The good thing about coturnix is you don't need a lot of land

Well thats good cause I only have 2 10x10 patches of grass, 1 for my dog to "use" and the other for the kids to burn off steam. The birds deffinatly won't be aloud outside, there are some pretty ridiculous regulations here about out side clutter. Can't wait, and hope it works out, so I can join in by this time next year.

best of luck Tony! kids seem fascinated by eggs and chicks don't they?

thanks 2crows!

#4 then tried to fly, did not fly far, her wing looked displaced and she had broke an elbow. I hastened her to her next life (hopefully with a lil more karma her way).

she devoted her life to Quailism. since I had the scale out, took some pics of her naked, then processed completely and then cooked properly and then lip smacking good.

she started at 224g
