Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

to recollect, setting them on the 1st, we can collect eggs for how many days before setting? in everyone's humble opinions...

any additional project opportunities here? 4-5 days, 6-10 days? stored on the counter, under the stairs in the basement? in a cooler? turned, rotated... we have good threads on this subject.

Just introducing myself. Im Scott and I live in Mississippi. I am currently raising different breeds of quail. I sell babies, eggs and also pickled eggs.

I have found that my best hatches are from eggs I have collected about 3 or 4 days BEFORE incubation. I find a place in the house closest to 55 or 60 degrees, (tough in the summer heat LOL), and store them pointy end down. I give them a rotate every now and then during the day and this resting period seems to yield good hatches.

Ahhh, I don't to pitchers very well, but here's me with a couple of two and a half pound Bobwhites... I mean..... white crappie on a cold blustery spring day.
