lets see the "ugly" coops plz

I think that one will do the job well. They would be protected from predator & standing free of poop. Looks fine to me. I like it better than some I've seen for functionality.

Ok that means I can paint in the spring. It will be 2 cold at the 3 month time here. I have some left over exterior house paint that will be just about perfect.

Thanks Maggie. Believe it or not, they love the high, free standing coop. I guess the higher the better for them. And I have NEVER had a problem with predators. The predators cannot get that high off the ground and those coops are locked shut at night. I must admit that I did build another chicken house behind those in the pics but my flock still prefers to get in the UGLY coops. I had a relative build those coops about 5 years ago. I had the new coop (pic below) built a couple years ago. I thought that I would upgrade my flock to something better but they showed me that they love the ugly coops instead. Many of them still refuse to go in the new chicken stalls that I had built for them. The ugly shed that is in the pic has been torn down and another chicken house with 20 nesting boxes is being built as we speak. It will be completed by this weekend.

Pic of new coop built a couple of years ago.

Here is what the whole roo coop looked like before paint. I still have the ugly back wall to paint.

Can't get much uglier...

I like it! Do you have any pics of the inside? Nothing can get into that at all. Where did you find that? Believe it or not, I have been searching for something similar to add to my barnyard decor. I have been searching Craigslist but haven't found anything yet.

Great job with painting. Looks nice and clean.

I got this thing as a van in 1993. I cut off the cab and installed a tongue under it thus making it into a trailer. I used it to haul goats in. It was given to me by a friend of mine that no longer had a use for it. Here is a thread that I started on it earlier showing pics including the inside.

I always loved it when Dad would let me help paint - we ended up with some funny looking boats though......

An ugly coop to me would have skinny chickens, holes in the sides for predators to go in, no food or water or foul food and water and no real protection from the elements or anywhere for dust baths and scratching and roosting. While I'd like my coop to be prettier, it is really just a silly urge we all have to make everything "cute". It depends on why you have chickens I guess. Ours are to provide us eggs and occasionally meat and our coop is not fancy, but I like it because it works and we did not make a silly investment we could not afford, you won't hear me complaining about 900 dollar eggs.

We did paint our whole coop which improved the look of recycled parts immensely and hopefully make it all last longer, too, but we used paint leftover from the hardware store where someone mixed the wrong color and returned it. Sorry, Im brain dead about uploading photos....
