Lets talk about goats!

I have heard predators are a real threat to small livestock like goats but so far I haven't had a problem with predators and the goats. The only real predator threats for the goats I have here in my town are loose dogs and I never see any(responsible dog owners Im guessing) and coyotes and I have never seen one though neighbors say they have seen them. I do not have livestock dogs just plain jane house dogs lol. I do not have a door to the goat house yet(I had planed on one just havent got to it and now winter is here, I know not an excuse). So far so good though. I only had a problem one time during the summer where something got 4 of my rooster in 2 nights but it only took their heads .

4 does and 1 buck. I have to kids that are male and a baby girl now too though.

coyotes have taken the heads of my chickens they scare them at every side of the coop all barking making a noise the chickens get scared they try to escape by attempting to squeeze threw the fence the coyotes run around biting the heads off. it actually happened to my guinea hens

My 6 month old nubians' horns haven't grown since I got him in July and I was wondering if this is cause for concern? They're maybe an inch long.

My only concern is that he still has them. However Nubian's horns grow slower than the Swiss breeds like Alpines and Toggenburgs.

Some people do. It's a personal choice. Horns make dandy handles. Can't think what else they are good for. Personally, I learned to hate them. I got real tired of extricating horned goats who got their heads caught in fences and feeders. If not found in time they would die in the summer heat.

Yeah that would not be fun to find a dead goat. I think the nigerians are good for that concern.Their horns dont seem to be big enough that they get stuck. My male sticks his head threw 6by6 cattle panels all the time. And he knows how to get them out.

Maybe someone can give me some advice. I rescued a doe. She's the alpha doe in this group now. She goes around bugging all the other goats. She gives their butts zerberts and acts just like a male, sounds, mounting and all. First she harassed my wither for days until he just stopped running and just took it. Then she stop bugging him. She's done it to each one of the goats until they give in and just accept it then she stops bugging them. she is now doing it to my doe that just had kids. I even just watched her reach down and try to nurse off her udders. is this normal behavior for a female to act like a male. Or is she just a problem goat. She was living with a dog when I rescued her I don't think she knows how to act like a goat.
