I have a friend who didn't believe in dehorning either. That was before a small mini buck drove his sharp pointed horns two inches into her thigh. As I remember, it was not long after she returned from the emergency room that the little buck ended up as dinner.....

Horns can be an issue, but the bigger issue is someone allowing their goat to headbutt them. Even just threatening to headbutt a human is a massive no no here. Same with jumping on humans. What is it with people not enforcing basic manners with their animals?

My only horned goat went to freezer camp, too. He nearly speared me in the eye when he threw his head backwards as I held him. Hit me in the cheek with his horn, thankfully.

X 2. In the 40 years I had goats there was only one time I ever got butted. This was by a not-too-bright buckling with an over sized ego. I was so startled and angry I picked him up by a couple handfuls of hide and dumped him unceremoniously on the ground. He landed on his side in the middle of a mud puddle. I hurt his pride more than anything but that was the first and last time he tried to pull something like that. I never abused my animals but I made it clear from the day they were born I was alpha. I don't remember now what I did, but with that one exception, none of my goats ever made an attempt to challenge me. Over the years I have owned and bred a lot of goats.

Take a picture of the top of their heads. Like from standing over them. Hair pattern over the horn bud area should give us a good idea if they are polled or not. If you can't take pictures, then let us know if over each "horn" whether or not the hair is in a swirl pattern.
