I figured you were. I would like to know about how many have feathered legs. It is hard to add that, I would think really hard in the silvers. I don't need a project any harder than it has to be.

ok, im gonna be moving them tonight when it cools off....separating them from the silvers and ill see what ive got ladyI figured you were. I would like to know about how many have feathered legs. yes they have a thin line of leg feathers, 2 of the hens from which the eggs were hatched are reg. cuckoos since we lost most of the group before anyone developed good patterns I"m not sure what I would have ended up with. You got some Reg Cuckoos too didn't you? Do these Silvers have any leg feathers? Vicki do yours?
yes with the weather being so mild, this group was hit hard and they dropped like flies. Like you said one day they were fine and the next not so much- it seemed like it took the 2 that made it a long time to feel better you could just tell by looking at them and how they didn't move around much like well chicks would. I am hoping with this new group of 7 chicks that we have no problemsDid you find Cocci exceptionally common this season? I usually might have two or three out of a few hundred get it but this year I lost quite a few. It seemed to come on so fast that I coulnt save them. I was going nuts about it and power cleaning twice a week even.
Love the Cali's I am looking for some........trade you for an oddball cockerel and his twin brother. I had a few pullets come from that pair too. they are not as gold as my gold cuckoo from Fancy Chick but more bronze if that makes sense. I will have to wrangle one down to photo.
yep, he is the main rooster(only rooster) for the cuckoos.blue cuckoo lady?
good deal! I would think that means you should have lots of blues to work with before longyep, he is the main rooster(only rooster) for the cuckoos.
well from the 7 that hatched yesterday and today it looks like we have 4 bluesgood deal! I would think that means you should have lots of blues to work with before long
Quote: I am having gold leakage.... are you just breeding against it or add new birds without leakage?
i would like to get away from any gold leakage, the 4 hens that are with the rooster were hatched by us, using the rooster I posted a picture of earlier and 1 hatchery cuckoo hen and 2 blue colored marans that we got from the same person we got the rooster from. So these hens are his daughters and the 2- 3 month old chicks and the new 7 are hatched from this mating(2nd generation?) this is just my project to work with and see where it goes and I happen to think blue is a cool colorI am having gold leakage.... are you just breeding against it or add new birds without leakage?
Quote: Blue Cuckoo is a project I have too. I have a little roo that shows no gold but little barring. I am also growing up some solid bluesmay go that route with my Splash Cuckoo roo. IDK..... Leg feathering and egg color are my 2 big issues. I have some chicks from them growing up but some have gold
I just need to breed away from that I guess.![]()
