Y’all! I don’t know if any of yall show your birds, but I do and I CANNOT believe how many LGBTQ+ people I’ve met! It’s crazy to me but so awesome.

I was looking at your other thread with the pics of you and your birds! Those bantam Wyandottes are the cutest damn things I've ever seen!!!

You should post the pics here so everyone can see them!

Thanks! They fair well in the heat. They don't love it, but they do okay. I'm in TN, and the heat index has gotten up to 112 degrees F and they made it through.

That's good to know. My LF brahmas do terribly. Even an Oriental gamefowl mix pullet that I have doesn't do well at all. We've been hitting 39°C throughout this week and the previous week, so it's understandable.

The landraces handle it better than the rest

Ooof! I just love them!!!

I just ordered my very first bantams (hatching 8/26):

2x Bantam Mottled Cochin
2x Bantam Splash Ameraucana
2x Bantam "Green Queen"

I don't think they'll be nearly as adorable as your lil Wyandottes, but I'm excited (and nervous) to finally have a few banties in my flock!

Cochins are THE SWEETEST birds. I have one blue bantam Cochin, named Little Debbie. I bought her to be a natural incubator for my duck eggs. They are so sweet and gentle, with great personalities. They LOVE to talk to you. Little Debbie even trusted me enough to snuggle under my arm and lay an egg! Bantams are the best. That's all I raise. Bantam Wyandottes, bantam cochin, and bantam call ducks!

Ha! Jokes on all of you for having sweet bantams! All I can touch are my seramas. My mixes are so wild! As far as I know, Cruella's offspring and adoptive babies have never been touched by a human, ever!

Bantam cochins seem to be very sweet birds, pretty too. You'll love them, Chicky!

Wow!! I have heard good things about cochins, so I'm super excited about them.

Yay! I had not planned on getting any more chicks this year - I just integrated the 8-week-olds into the "big girl coop" - but after I lost Peanut, I fell prey to that thing of where you lose a bird and then feel like you need to replace it, but you can't get just one and so you end up ordering 8 (I also ordered 2 Bielefelders).

I convinced my husband that bantams are like 1/2 a chicken, so if I get 6, it's really like 3 .
