Wow!! I have heard good things about cochins, so I'm super excited about them.

I didn't know there were such things as bantam ducks!!


Yay! I had not planned on getting any more chicks this year - I just integrated the 8-week-olds into the "big girl coop" - but after I lost Peanut, I fell prey to that thing of where you lose a bird and then feel like you need to replace it, but you can't get just one and so you end up ordering 8 (I also ordered 2 Bielefelders).

I convinced my husband that bantams are like 1/2 a chicken, so if I get 6, it's really like 3 .

You did an excellent job of convincing hubby! You'll love bantams. They're just amazing! Definitely post pictures when you get them!

I totally will! I'm building a brooder inside my coop this time to make it even easier to integrate!

I have a few. Calls and the East Indies. I think silkies too fall as a bantam, but I'm not sure

Hello! New to the forum and pretty new to poultry, just thought I'd drop in to say hi! Seems like a lovely and friendly thread.

We had pet chickens growing up (some silkies, hamburgs and cochins), but even though I've kept a LOT of different pets since then this is my first dive back into birds. This spring I won six yellow golden pheasant eggs on Ebay and I am now an absolutely besotted mum of four chicks. I never expecetd them to be like this. They are awesome!
