LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

If, I do, I will for sure! That won’t be until the plant expo in May, however. Got a lot more time for impromptu plant purchases, though🤭
Don't forget to keep your eyes open for a Monanthes polyphylla. ;) 😁

How could I forget!

I totally forgot. I only remember it as the alien plant. My only hope of ever getting it is if I literally see it in front of me
If you can't remember the name, hit me up in it, it just rolls off the tip of my tongue. 😁

Soo, say I hypothetically ordered some succulents online…

Allegedly, three stapelias are coming
Allegedly
Oooh, how egg-citing! I can already smell them from here. :lau Seriously though, post photos when you get them, I think the plant itself is cool!!!! 😊

In the hypothetical scenario that something does arrive, I will post photos of that hypothetical something😇.

I think the plants themselves are cool too!
I tried to find the monanthes (?) as well, but I had no luck. The website where I hypothetically got the plants that are hypothetically coming seemed to have a really nice selection. I saw a very nice astrophytum on there.

I’m not sure I will go with online shopping again (if I have gone there at all), due to all the problems you encountered with it. Much better to see the plants you’re buying live

This is all hypothetical, of course :D

Sorry I disappeared on you today, too many things going on! :barnie

Hypothetical is reality in this case, there is no denying it now. :gig

I think those Manathes polyphylla are hard to find. I don't see them on plant websites if ever and I really just got lucky ordering them at all. I was such a newb, it was my first succulent order ever and when I saw them I thought, oooh what a fun looking plant! Keep your eyes open though, you may find one one of these days. 😊

No need to apologise  ! I disappear for days on end, from this thread, and many more!
Hope everything’s settled down now, and/or that whatever’s going on isn’t very “serious”:hmm

It really does seem like you got extremely lucky! Well, we all got lucky really, because you got the plant, and we get awesome photos of said plant!
I’ll definitely search for it at the expo. There are only two good booths, both of which are succulent focused, so no complaints there! Still, I haven’t found any ultra rare succulents there, so there’s no saying what I’ll find in May.
Oops, Manathes, not Monanthes:oops:! Thanks for the correction!

I stand totally corrected, it IS Monanthes polyphylla! 😂 My brain isn't working well today. 😁 And not proof reading either!

I live in such a rural area, only the big cities at a 3+ hour drive away have plant shows. So that's great you can go and see all the different plants! How do you resist not bringing a truck load home? 🚛 It's probably best they are so far away from me.

Ah, I see! Thanks for clarifying! The scientific name seems Greek in origin (which is probably a lot of scientific names). Looks like «μόνο (ένα) άνθος», single bloom. I wonder, have you found anything about that? From what I can remember from your photos (back when it was in bloom), there wasn’t a singular bloom from each particular plant.
I also can’t imagine this would be their most defining quality, lithops and faucaria (off the top of my head) also have only one singular bloom per plant.

The only reason I can resist, is because I have only two hands, which limit what I can carry. I also intentionally bring a certain amount of money, so that I don’t go overboard. Also quite helpful is that most expo stuff is incredibly overpriced:rolleyes:.
I can’t complain about the distance, I’m lucky enough to be close enough to the capital.
3+ hours is a lot, but maybe a once in a lifetime expo visit would be worth it! As you mentioned, you live in cactus country, so there should be some REALLY special plants in any expos there.
I’m sure the prices will be horrible, though:rolleyes:
