Isn’t it? Absolutely stunning!

Such odd blooms, alien like (like the monanthes).

You should definitely get some, if you find them available!

They’ll be pictures, smell descriptions, and ratings on how rotten flesh-y they smell!

I’ll even do a guess right now, the hirsuta is going to smell a lot more, as just yesterday I learned that the variegata is technically an orbea

Yes I would imagine each species will let out different levels of smells. What types of pollinators are these types of plants trying to attract with these smells?

Oh good grief! What we do for the love of plants. I can see it now... The flower sees a fly, it gets all excited and starts in with a smelly dew drop...but then it hears, SWAT! As Fluffy slams the fly hard with a fly swatter. Fluffy 1, flower 0.

Thankfully I won’t have to get close to those nasty creatures (no, not the opuntia ) because we have a fly eating maniac dog here!

Ok, hypothetical question....would you rather grow strictly Opuntia or allow hoards of flies in the house for the smelly flowers with no dog to eat the flies.
