LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Yes he will! They are pretty persistent and have a lot of time on their hands. You might stay on guard tonight, predators do their worst damage and dining at night. :(

The pens are secure, so nothing can get in. The problem is during the day, since some birds free range

Thanks everyone for letting me bombard your thread with chicken pictures. I had the drive open and it's good to recall a few chickens that I have known over the years. Not much help for you in working out what breed your possibly land race chickens are I'm afraid fluffycrow. Still, there are plenty of pictures to look at.:p

Time to go and check out the broody monster and get Henry and Carbon out of their horrid run.:love

Thank you, for all the photos, we love those! I'm absolutely sure that there's something going on here with how similar these bantams are. It still baffles me. Hope you have good news waiting for you in the allotments

One would have to let/have every offspring live to their maximum age (for good genes 10 or 12 years old) to get any real idea of what their behaviour was like in a wide enough variety of circumstances to have any meaning full relevance.
How many generations would one need under these conditions; five, six?
That's a fifty year study!
I've done ten years, five generations down and have yet to see a pattern.
I'm only starting with breeding chickens, or rather, next year will be my first attempt at doing some purposeful breeding! :lau I have my own stock, all BYM, and I'll be trying to improve their size and quality, keeping only the best for now. The few scrawny ones I got this year are slowly being culled. I'd love to just let them do their thing, but with my limited space it's more difficult.

Someday, when I have a gazzillion acres of my own, well... That'll be a different story. :)
