Fluffy, do you know about clipping Christmas cacti to start new plants? I know you can do it, but i cant find if its only at certain times or it it needs to have a flower attached.

I've honestly never heard of any special requirements when propagating them. I assume not while it's blooming, purely because you'll want to enjoy the blooms, but other than that, you're free to do it whenever

You'll see little 'rootlets' forming between two segments sometimes. Those are good candidates. You can even wrap a joint in plastic with some damp sphagnum moss and it should root out. Otherwise, I usually just tried to grab pieces that broke off and plopped them in the soil. Some took, some didn't.

Do you let it callus over before potting?
