The fruit is very tasty, you just need to get all the little hairs off. Never tried the pads though.Lots of people eat the pads and fruit, I've never been brave enough to indulge.![]()
I will have to try the fruit one day!The fruit is very tasty, you just need to get all the little hairs off. Never tried the pads though.
Tongs work really well on pads and small furry cactus, the larger cactus like barrel cactus I use heavy duty materials like leather or tarpaulin, if I double it, spines can't get through.

If I lived one state over (Arizona) I would probably have one in my back yard!Gorgeous plants, and very well taken care of!
Speaking of Saguaro, you should get one. They don't get too big after all...![]()

Yes many birds use holes that woodpeckers have made in them, birds eat the fruits, bats too. These big cactus are just amazing standing the test of time and surviving. They say they don't start getting their arms until after 50 years of age!Meant to be!
Saguaro are so cool. They maintain a bunch of different bird and insect species, and I even remember reading about a small breeding population of feral lovebirds making their nests in Saguaros
