! Whichever way you look at it, caring for succulents is easier than adding more chickensYes I've seen this brownish color in succulents that get too much sun outside. I don't like it!Exactly! Astrophytum must be one of those that grow in partial shade, under some bigger plants. My astrophytum nudum tend to need more shade than my more fuzzy astrophytum.
Both do OK in full sun, it's just that their colour isn't very attractive; they turn a dark green, almost brown, to survive in full sun. It doesn't hurt them, and it's not sunburning, but it's not very pretty to look at for the keeper
You nailed it, plant math!!Y'all and these succulents!!

Oh goodness, I'm in big trouble now.Succulent math is EVEN worse! Whichever way you look at it, caring for succulents is easier than adding more chickens

I'm certain that's true! Although, more of my chickens have survived than any plants I've ever owned.Succulent math is EVEN worse! Whichever way you look at it, caring for succulents is easier than adding more chickens

Yes I've seen this brownish color in succulents that get too much sun outside. I don't like it!Every plant has its perfect conditions. I had kept various cacti and succulents but never got so involved as I have this year. I've learned so much about these wonderful plants!

That one is VERY cool! They are just so cool! The adaptations they have to survive in their respective environments are just mind-blowing
Chicky, you should definitely get some succulents. They're the best!

Succulents really are easy to keep alive. House plants need constant attention and good grief, should you forget to water them for a couple of days, bam, they croak! Succulents and cacti are designed to retain water in their leaves during times of drought and are quite resilient with neglect. You can grow them inside too if you have a sunny east, south or west window. Some of my big cactus get watered once a month, my smaller plants every 10 to 14 days. So a stony loose soil, a little bit of sun in the morning, bright afternoon light coming in the window and they grow easily! They are VERY addictive, I think its their cuteness.I'm certain that's true! Although, more of my chickens have survived than any plants I've ever owned.![]()
