Completely back to normal and now also acting like teenager@KikiDeAnime, how is little Chicken Nugget?
I'm very happy to hear this.Completely back to normal and now also acting like teenager

I have stopped correcting people or telling them their coop is too small and has no meaningful ventilation. People do not want to hear they are wrong and I am tired of telling them!Someone in my town's facebook group page posted a picture of a rooster that was dumped and they called him a chicken when asking if someone was missing him. Someone commented saying 'That's a rooster not a chicken'
I let them know that roosters are in fact chickens![]()
I failed the flock. I won't know for sure if the senior hen was eaten but 2 raccoons were attempting to kill the others before I saved them.
I forgot to lock them up last night but thankfully aside from the one hen, everyone else is accounted for and now safe.
Our dogs weren't too happy about the raccoons
.I know but I was doing so well keeping them protected until now. I'm keeping a tiny bit of hope that the senior hen was simply scared and went up into a tree or hiding spot but since she's 9 and also still molting, it's likely she was eaten.I’m so sorry for your loss.
Don’t beat yourself up over it; happens to us all at some point
Unless the raccoons were completely starved, and/or had a ton of uninterrupted time to eat, you'll likely find the body if they did get her. Usually raccoons eat the head and guts and leave the rest.I know but I was doing so well keeping them protected until now.
