Life Goal to Prevent Cancer

a new recipe to try---based on different probiotics

http://www.cheesemaking.com/Quark.html

anti cander recipe used not homogenized milk and

adds 2-5 tablespoons flax oil

and cayenee, also mentions using FRESH grd flax, to make a meal

unclear what the 10 supplement tablets are---they could be key

Other suggestions-- please learn and understand I will list the info and follow with MY thinking.

FRESH foods only
Avoid butter and margarine--margarine is fake with altered molecules; butter can be an issue if no organic and pasture fed. IMO fats contain HIGH fat-soluable contaminants like pesticides and herbicides; specific veg and nut based oils are better, NOT solvent based oils.
ALL soft drinks/ sodas----I would also add any sugar free drinks too
Avoid all processed foods--we take these for granted, they are everywhere and we just dont recognize them

Avoid ALL sugar but grape juice is ok to sweeten drinks---- These days I only buy blue or black grapes and they have a special anti oxidant.

Avoid all commercial dressings and mayonaise and toppings----

Avoid all meats that are non-organic and non-range fat meats----what a mouth ful. BOttom line is EAT organic and grass fed. Less grains used in grass fed. ANd fewer bad chemicals in organic.

Avoid pure animal fats like back fat, lard , drippings , etc. ----IMO grassfed fats should be safe but they are hard to find. ALso perhaps fats are difficult to digest during cancer battle---would like more data on this.

Diet should be CHEMICAL free.---yup

Drink freshly squeezed juices from celery, carrot and beets. ---- I already eat far more beets, and celery.

Drink warm tea 3 times a day like chamomile, peppermint, rosehip tea with natural sweeteners only---IMO sweeteners are not a good idea, perhaps honey as it is an immunity booster but perhaps now is not the time for that mechanism, what is not listed here is green tea. The first 2 I have seen as stomach soothers, so have more questions about these teas.

Avoid artificail sweeteners like high fructose corn syrup.---all sweeteners have issue. Maybe Stevia is the exception. Havent found a pure 100% stevia product.

Limit use of all pharmaceuticals.

Avoid tap water and bottled water and avoid water with flourides.---Municiple waters contain chlorine. Must leave on counter for 24 hours to get rid of chlorine; does not remove flouride. Beware of toothpastes--maybe baking soda is a better toothpaste.

Avoid suncreens and cosmetics. New lines of cosmetics are without added chemicals. Maybe try simple sources like beet juice. I assume bug sprays are problematic also.

Avoid white flour, white rice, white bread, white salt, white sugar and all products that contain chlorine compounds. --- IMO an odd lumping. Maybe to drive home what foods to avoid. IMO whole grain breads or brown rice is not a better choice. Brown rice has more heavy metal than white rice. California grown rice is the lowest heavy metal rice. Not clear why chlorine compounds not given its own line.

Avoid fish oil and non-flax sources of omega 3 fatty acids. --IMO fish can be a bad choice if it is a large fatty fish. Perhaps small fish like anchovies or smelts are better. Again fatty fish will abosorb and hold fat-soluable contaminants. Flax seed by Bob's Red MIll is organinic.

Avoid "table salt" and replace with unbleach sea salts. -----yup

Avoid hydrogenate oils.---IMO this is old news. I stopped eating this by about 1995.

Consume 1 teaspoon cold pressed organic coconut oil a day.

Avoid soy and canola oils.---Soy has estrogenic issues; and canola is a very processed oil.

Use cold pressed organic olive oil that is protected from air , heat and light. ---IMO I buy in a glass bottle NOT plastic

Supplement with Cholorphyll--IMO this is meaning the algae or juicing wheat grass.

Take vit c daily but not more than 5 grams a day to protect the kidneys---IMO very high doses need careful evaluation. SOme dosings are theraputic so perhaps this qualifies. Otherwise a normal dosing is better. About weighing the risks.

Drink a green drink daily. IMO no other info given, so kale smoothie or spinach perhaps.

Use oxygen drinks daily.---- IMO greek to me.

Always buy safer alternatives to bleaches and detergents and soaps from health food stores.----IMO many easy to make detergents, just mix your own. No bleach here except for rare uses. VInegar is a wonderful cleaner.

All info from Dr Budwig, 6 books published in German; 3 translated into English. --IMO when reading english translation, some details can be lost or mistranslated.

Miriam Kalamian's new 355 page! book is now published and her website has been much updated and beautifully redesigned. If you are interested in the potential for diet to impact cancer risk, considering diet as an adjuvant therapy she has added more general information, resources and expanded the food list to explain why a type of keto food may not be best in a certain situation. I have shared her food list and information from her website many times over the years, and now it is available in a beautiful format and a print book.

Gary Taubes tweeted "We need better research on carbs, Keto and cancer. Until then we have Dietary Therapies new book as a guide."

Dr. Georgia Edes posted the first review:
"If you or your loved ones are facing cancer, please read and share Miriam Kalamian's phenomenal new book. I have read it cover-to-cover and recommend it highly, without reservation. Keto for Cancer is an incredibly generous gift to the cancer community. Absolutely everything you need to know about how cancer cells operate and how you can fight their growth by improving your own nutrition and metabolism is in this wonderful book. Every question you can possibly think of about cancer nutrition is answered thoughtfully and in a way that everyone can understand. This work is dedicated to the memory of her beloved son Raffi, whose own life was extended by years using this scientifically sound approach. Raffi's mother is now a highly-respected cancer nutrition expert who has poured every ounce of her hard-earned wisdom, deep scientific knowledge, and compassion into Keto for Cancer to help you and your loved ones become healthier, feel better, and live longer. I cannot think of a more comprehensive and trustworthy resource to guide you in your journey."

Several years ago while watching our sons play soccer, I talked with a long time friend who is a nurse. We had met as co-organizers of a group of 5 children diving into a Destination Imagination 5 month project. We worked together so well and helped the kids develop their own play. A fond memory.

ANyway, I was asking her about alternative therapy treatments for cancer as I was not happy with the oncologists take on "prevention" and "treatment". She gave me a name that I now cannot remember. If I get to that point I'll call Jenn to get that info again or see if her son is playing soccer this spring and get it for my records.

In the mean time this place also is possible in AZ.

One of my long time dietary goals is to not eat from midnight to noon. Other people do 6pm-6am. This is better but just doesnt work for me, so I keep to the 12 hours that do work. The "better" is because of when specific bio-chemicals that are beneficial are running around and fasting during that time gives those chemicals a fighting chance.

When I can stay the course and eat low carb, I love eggs over easy for lunch with butter, scallions and garlic and cream cheese. YUMMMMMMYYYYYYY Last night for dinner was shredded chicken thighs in chopped fresh tomatos and a jar of thai seasoning made under the Hannaford brandname. THen add more ginger and celery and let it simmer in the crock pot.

Summer is when kale smoothies are popular--my boys grab my glass out of my hand, leaving me to pour another for myself. Buggers. lol

Kale
1/2 -1 whole apple
lemonade crystal lite
celery
Use in proportions that make you happy. Add ice and run in blender. Refreshing.

Another goal is to increase the number of smoothies a week. With greater variety of vegetables. FIgure the juicing is necessary for those that have a bad case of cancer and the juicing makes the nutrients easily available and less stress on an already stressed body. My thought for prevention, is to include the natural fiber of the natural organic vegetables.

Several years ago, next colonoscopy over due, was an interesting meeating with a GI doc that actually seemed to be caring. At least he is the only specialist that actually read my file by the time I left the appointment! He suggested using a fiber supplement----which I started immediately. Over time I looked for cheaper alternatives. Like fresh ground flax, and wheat bran. But along the way the niggling idea that nature put fiber into our vegies made me think what if it not just the fiber but ALSO the vegie nutrients too? ANd then whammy all this new information has fallen in my lap. WoW . Perhaps I am on the right track.

THere is little to no money in research that doesnt lead to big pharma making money. Long ago when a group of women were collecting donations for breast cancer research, I just could NOT contribute. Nor did I explain why, to them. I resented this money going to find a cure. Even then I had been thinking PREVENTION. I did not explain. I did not explain that I was the third generation.... and likely to die of breast cancer. But this was not in my plan. I wanted to PREVENT the cancer.

My kids were toddlers back then..... so that was VERY long ago. But I didntknow what steps to take. I had discovered the first and only diet that allowed me to loose weight. Atkins. A low carb, ketogentic diet. Since about 2002, maybe 2000. In 2000 I read my first copy of Dr Atkins. Later I searched out all the low carb diets in publication. All had simialr information. Each a different twist to allow creation of a book to sell, a clinic to open, and diet aids to sell. BUt this intermittenet dieting was not enough to stop the colon polyps.

In looking back now, perhaps the effort to stay more LC will have helped reduce the incidence of those polylps. I do need another testing to looky-looky. But I have been concerned on two fronts. Initially, the loss of all the good bacteria. Replacing the good bacteria is aproblem. as good bacteria is picked up during vaginal births. ANd I dont see a logical or probable way to be reborn. lol HOwever, there is a new therapy that seems to have finally made its way from Europe to the US. Where approved donars provide intestial lower GI material to reinnoculate a very specific disease.

Though I cant remember the name of the disease, basically a person will die without the re-inocculation of the GI with the goood bacteria, etc that normally inhabit the GI. WE think of the GI as a wasteland but actually is an intrinsic part of our immunity system.

I have worked years to avaoid antibiotics and to add back every microbe type that I can find. THru kefirs, cultured buttermilks, probiotic pills. I even pick food from my gardens and nibble inhopes of picking up something more. THese live organisms need feeding. Thru reading Atkins, much of GI bloat is the overwhelming number of bad microbes. THe result is when I eat breads, I bloat. ANd feel uncomfortable. WHen eating a low carb diet , all these organisms alter proportions. Back to what is a healthy proportion. Bad bugs are there which is fine, they are just kept in line and dont cause trouble.

THis brought me to fermented foods. BUt our government requires heat treatment, pasatureization, for health reasons. WHile I totally understand this, it has also caused other health issues. ANd as fewer anfewer people make their own foods, there is less and less ways of getting the good bacterias in our modern society.

I keep looking for more sources of probiotics.

TO my second objection to next colonoscopy, the expense. Our already VERY expensive insurance now costs $100 fee for first script of the year for person one, and for person 2 in the family another $100 for their first script. Basically a way to pull $200 into their coffers. I struggle with spending that $100 for my self. I t is an annual fee. WIll have to make it worth my while and have multiple scripts taken care of this year.

The cost of medicine is killing us. THe number of health issues is over the top and actually preventable with simple all the foods we used to eat ( organic meats, fruits, and vegies) and regular exercise. SImple.

http://www.cavemandoctor.com/2013/01/01/an-introduction-a-ketogenic-diet-for-cancer/

must read entire posting---has vital details for those looking at traditional treatment

quote:

6. Last but not least, some people have hypothesized that ketones themselves may fight cancer. This is more speculative with little data, but reports on many societies, most notably those in Africa17 and the Inuit Eskimos reveal few cases of cancer. Dr. Urquhart served as the district surgeon of the far north, and in seven years with all the x-rays and surgical equipment of his day, has published that he never say a single case of cancer, and this was in people of all ages.18

In the next decade, the power of diet, exercise, and specifically ketogenic diets in the prevention and treatment of cancer may take a front seat within the field of oncology. A ketogenic diet is just one of many nutritional and lifestyle interventions that may prove valuable in the fight against cancer. Further studies must assess this potential.
