Sorry my phone adds in letters or words I did not mean. Billed out is when chickens sort through their feed looking for the right tidbit. Kind of like Goldilocks.
I think I am just going to try the sour crop treatment - although as I said, I haven't felt a full crop on her.Sorry that she is not digesting her food. My hen only seems to spit up if I massage her full crop, and that can cause choking. I have stopped treatment on my hen, just letting her do what she wants to do, and offering her bits of scrambled egg daily. I don’t think that she will be alive much longer.
I would agree that your hen sounds like she could have a blockage perhaps in her gizzard or crop preventing anything going through. Tumors in the crop or elsewhere can sometimes be present.
Oh, I see. Well, the feed is mixed with pedialyte so it's like wet sand.Sorry my phone adds in letters or words I did not mean. Billed out is when chickens sort through their feed looking for the right tidbit. Kind of like Goldilocks.
ACV added, and she's drinking it.A LP so add acv to her water
I just went back over your first post you have done an outstanding job with your hen. 5 years old is old in chicken world, especially for a high production hen, they always seem to develop reproduction issues for me after the first hard molt. The Mennonites in my area only keep them a year some only six months now of laying. You will know soon if the antifungal is starting to work but her eating is a good thing. Good luck and prayers.ACV added, and she's drinking it.

You have done a wonderful job with your girl, it sounds like the end may be near. Remember these types of hens were bred to lay eggs early and often, you gave a hen 5years of good life. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is let go. Hopefully I don't come across as uncaring. I will treat a hen up to death if I have to, they work hard for us that is the least I can do.PrayersStatus...mainly standing with eyes closed. I've noticed she won't sit on the roost, she will only stand. I have a dog bed stuffed with wool - since she doesn't want to lie down, I prop her up with wool...
Well thank you so much for your kind words and for your prayers. I've prayed a lot this week. Charlotte is lying down, eyes closed for some time now. I put her near a window so she's getting some soft sunlight. I was trying to give her pedialyte via syringe, but she fought me so I stopped. I guess she knows better than me at this point and I feel obliged to follow her wishes. You have done a wonderful job with your girl, it sounds like the end may be near.
