Limping rooster

I started him on the poly yesterday and mixed it in his egg,I`m not usre how much to give him so he gets .5 mil once a day,he seems to be doing better I had to chase him yesterday to get him and put him back in his cage,that way I can make sure he gets his poly.He is only getting his feed and an egg with the poly in it now.Went back and reread the thread and seen how much poly to give him.

Safeguard liquid goat wormer would be a good wormer. It it the second least costly wormer... about $18 for a bottle, and the easiest to find locally besides Ivomec. Safeguard is 1cc per 10 lbs of bird, given either in the mouth or on a piece of bread etc... for an individual treatment. To do a flock give 3 cc to a gallon of their drinking water for 5 days, then again in 14 days. Safeguard is pretty safe and somewhat easier on their system then others. Ivomec is used when lice & mites are also a problem. Valbazen is in the Fenabendazole family, like safeguard but has a little better affect on some tape worms. For tapes I usually use a pea size drop of horse Zimectrian Gold. For those that have worm problems rotating wormers every 6 months is a good idea to keep worms from getting resistant, but since you normally don't have a problem, once a year or so might be all you need.

I would also back off the added protein, i know in some of my JG's and really big Baby Orps, as well as when I raise peachicks... too much proteins lead to leg issues that normally righted itself if stopped quickly.

Hope he gets better... he's a cutie pie.

Thank you so much for all the information,I have been letting him stay in with the others during the day and then putting him in his cage at night.Tonight I thought I would see how he would make out staying the night with them.I went out at dark to check and put down the poop door and could not find him,I started looking on all the roosts and happened to see movement outside the back door which is all glass and it was handsome looking in,I`m so glad I checked before I went back in the house or he would have spent the night outside and it was already30 degrees outside.He must have gotten chased outside because when I had checked on him at dusk he was on the roost.So I put him back in his cage,He would have froze tonight its going down in the low 20`s.I can`t get over how big he is getting.I lkie it when he talks to me first thing in the morning.I will cut back on the protein,just give him his feed and nothing else,I`ll put his poly-v-sol on a little piece of bread in the mornings.He really seemed a lot better today.

How 'bout an update? How is he doing? My Welsummer rooster has been limping more lately. I got him about 4 months ago when he was 8 months old. He had an odd gate but thought it was because of the previous rooster beating him up some and just the way he walked. But the last month or so he has been limping more, not putting his left foot down. He can still chase his gals around but it is really bothering him. I checked him over real good and don't see any injury or signs of bumblefoot. When I touched it, he didn't flinch like it hurt him but something sure is up. Not sure what to do for the guy. I named him Prince William, he is such a prince with his gals, so gentle.

He is doing great,I think he just had a bad sprain and it just took time to heal.He and the other two roosters had to get movedto a bachlor pad cause they were stressing the girls out to much,you know trying to be romantic lol,HE IS HUGE wondering if that might have had something to do with it,he grew so fast and is still growing,won`t be a year old until June or July

Prince is still limping. I gave him some penicillin last week (first time I've ever given any shots! My, was that traumatic for me!) so will see if that helps anything. Not sure what else to do for the poor guy. Steroid shot?
