Little Giant 9200 Still Air Incubator - humidity

My maglite was doing a really good job of lighting up the egg until about yesterday. I downloaded a flashlight app to my cell phone (samsung S5) and it works so much better! We actually saw the chicks moving all over the place in the shell!

I'll try and video it but not sure how well it will show up!

So excited because we have at least two alive :yesss:

I think I'll try that with my moms phone. I tried using my brothers LED flashlight but I couldn't see much. It's pretty big and I have bantam eggs so I tried to cut a cardboard box to accommodate the big flashlight but I cut the egg hole too big. I'm hoping to see movement the next time. Fingers crossed.

I'm suppose to be on day 9 but I'm not sure if they are suppose to be moving around this much on this day. I'm wondering if the high temps a couple of times had them developing faster?

Aw! :( Mine don't move at all. The air cell is a bit bigger than it was yesterday so that's a good sign? I think we have another quitter. So now only 2 seem to be ok. I am done with my incubator. 1 or 2 out of 21 is terrible. I have the Farm Innovators model 2100. The bantam barred rock egg was either infertile or quit on day 1.

I think the air cell continuing to get bigger is a good sign but then it can get to big too. I have no idea. The more I try and research the more confused I get! I have the Little Giant 9200 still air. Out of eight eggs we still have 5 hanging in there. Two we didn't expect to continue due to being double yolks. They quit about day 5 or so. The last one is a day behind the other eggs so I'm not ready to say it quit just yet.

I googled a chicken egg air cell and mine are right on track. I'll just wait it out. I don't think I'll candle any more. I want to be surprise if they start to hatch. But then again, I probably won't be able to wait until then. Ugh! What do you think? Day 17 candling or just wait until hatch?

At the very least do a sniff test and since you have to pick the egg up to sniff you might as well candle while your are at it

Most the research I have found says to candle on days 7, 14 and 18 to check air cell and for progress.

Thank you so much for this info. My daughter and I are brand new to all of this so we rely on honest real informative blogs, posts etc. I have 9 eggs that were given to us and we have them sitting in the incubator on the auto turner. I'm glad you mentioned the temp because we had it set at 99.5 so I just raised it a bit. Will be reading much more on this site. Again, thank you

I'm addicted to candling lol. I think I'll candle them once more before lockdown which will probably turn in to 2 or 3 times. I don't want to candle them too much but I want to check progress. There are some people who candle every day to take pics to post on here and they still hatch. Hmm to candle or not to candle. Urgh!

What the temp should be depends on what type of incubator you have. Try the learning center but here are the links that I look at the most

For my type of incubator

Me too! To candle or not to candle, that is the question!
