Lock down and I'm nervous!

It is! Not been to Scotland yet although I'ld like to. T'is where the name came from.
Wishing now that the incubator was in the living room so I don't have to keep getting up to see what's happening.

kafflek- Good luck with the chickie. Anything else going on with the 3 other eggs? Today is my day 19 and my pip is now a full pip, and it's movig around in there, between naps.
No other pips on the other 11 yet. I'm trying to say away from the dining room but it's very hard.

P.S. I know no one named Kirstie and now we have 2!

Hi Brenda, nope nothing else happening yet. Could be a pipping and zipping day for me tomorrow too then

You never met another Kirstie? Wow! There were 3 in my year at school! Talking of names, I saw the name Cheyenne on this forum and my youngest now has it too (she's 4 months old)! Don't think there'll be too many more of them around these parts any time soon

Thanks bigstack! Come on chickies!

ha ha! i remember hating my name when i was a kid....now i love it and wouldn't have it any other way. brendapa....yes! we are on the same day i believe. i officially hit day 20 today at 7pm. still, NOTHING!!! if i just heard a simple peep, i'd feel better. they all are very silent with no movement. then, hubby had to shine a flash light in the bator when i was getting his dinner and he said "one's cracked!!!" of course he was joking!!!

i could've killed him!

NOW I read that Bantams hatch early.

I have been on BYC a lot in the last few weeks and never read that anywhere. But mine came on day 19. Almost didn't make it to lockdown. I was really surprised to see a pip on day 19. But I was HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!!!

But what about eggs that are a cross? Do they get the early Bantam gene?

Well yesterdays pip is now a cute chick (day 20) so guess that one inherited the hatch early gene. I've 2 more in there pipping and zipping in there now - both large fowl (dad is a dorking, mum could be light sussex or similar). There's one more in there that is a bantam x not doing anything yet. It's all very exciting!!!
Kirsti and Brenda, how are yours getting along?

well, it's 6:20 am and i'm almost half way through day 20. still nothing! i even had a dream that all had hatched except one. i woke up to find no pips, peeps or shakings!

mine ARE bantams.....but they're showgirls. but i really don't think they're crossed with LF. i know you can't (or shouldn't) breed showgirl to showgirl. i think you're suppose to breed showgirl to silkie. but silkies are bantams too (usually) and my eggs are small like bantams. man....i'm starting to hope i at least get one outta this bunch. i was only gonna keep ONE anyway. who knows, maybe they'll all hatch? i KNOW lastnight before i went to bed that i heard a chick peeping. i know for sure it wasn't in my mind. thanks for the support guys! i'll keep you informed!

It might sound crazy, but if I get a stall. I will gently shake the bator, tap on the glass and cheep to the eggs. LOL it seems to wake them up. I kinda just like to let them know someone is there waiting for them. I almost always get some kind of response. It may take a minute but it usually works for me. Even if I just get a few cheeps back. atleast I know their still there. sometimes I can see an egg begin to rock or I may get some cheeps! Either way I think it just helps us both to know we're not alone! LOL

Good Luck and God Bless!
