Lock down humidity help

Thanks for your help last night. I woke at three and have one pip. This morning the membrane seems to be a little brown but it's still chirping. The humidity is at 59 and temp dropped a little to 97. Should I spray it? Or add some more water real fast?

Congrats on the pip!

Did you test your hygrometer? Humidity is a funny beast. It's hard to say if a set number is enough or not.
But if the membrane is looking a little brown, I would probably try adding a little water, but can you do it thru a vent hole? I use bendy straws, linked together lol
Or you could quickly drop in a warm wet sponge.

Good luck! Hope you will keep us posted today.

Your a genius.. I used a bendy stew in an air hole and it's already up to 62. I hope the others follow pipping soon. I'll keep you posted

Haha! Glad it worked for you.

That's a nice big hole, but those are also the ones that tend to get stuck, so watch that one closely.

I'm a little concerned about the wire underneath there too. I hope you will be able to watch for chicks to get stuck in the wire. Next time, maybe try a piece of rubber shelf liner on top of the wire.

Also, I see you didn't mark air cells. Once you stopped turning eggs, did you check them? They normally pip around the lowest side of the droop in the air cell. We normally point that side up, so they pip on top.

Oh gosh.!! I had no idea I needed to do that. I didn't check them. I will be here with them all day and keep a close eye. I hope I didn't hurt the others chances by not marking air cells and facing them properly.

When do I get concerned that it's stuck? It's been 6.5 hours so far?

Shouldn't bother the chick, just watch for pips all the way around the egg. Ones that pip toward the floor, watch for chips of shell on the ground.

I know I get tunnel vision looking at where they are "supposed" to pip, then see one somewhere different and wonder how long that's been there! Lol

Try pecking on the window, make sure it stays active. But don't worry too much till around 18 hours.

I do have a pip point toward the down side of bator. It is in the middle and touching another egg. Will she be able to get out if the other egg is touching

Yes, as long as the other egg doesn't push the pip closed, they can still zip touching another egg. Some say eggs touching even encourages them.
