Omran, so what if your cabin is a little less conventional. If it's in a spot you love, and you enjoy going there, more power to you

Where we built our little cabin, our land connects to about 4,000 acres or so of company land.(Owned by a timber company). About a mile or so above us there is an OLD cabin, well the remains of it. When I was a little girl it was still partially standing, but now the weather has taken its toll. It was built by a man named Levi Alderson around about the late 1700's. His brother settled our little town down on the river in 1777, Alderson. It was very small, but there was many a child raised there. All is left is what you see and the lady of the house, her flowers are still there. They are old fashioned white daffodills. They are so pretty that time of the year. We always "ask" her before we pick any of them, it just seems like the right thing to do. It is an eary feeling to stand there and just imagine the life that went on there and no longer is. Sorry for rambling,..I just LOVE history and genealogy,...and log cabins!

If Up-the-creek's place is 800 sq ft, mine must be more like 600! The main room is pretty good sized, but the kitchen and bath are minuscule and there is no bedroom, just a loft. A queen sized bed and bureau barely fit up there. It gets pretty cramped in the winter, but summers are magical... we have a big, private yard and a river wraps around three sides of the property.

Ever since I read "Little House in the Big Woods" I have wanted to live in a log cabin. I love all of your places!

WOW THEY ALL LOOK GREAT

Well here is my wife’s and mine , I purchase it in 2006 for her, it was build in 1970 and we are the 4th owners . It is 1800sq.ft. of living space plus half the basement is finish for my room / game /computer room . Our Log Cabin sits back off the road 350 ft plus of woods , I have 3.5 acres of land here, There is also a 18ft. Width BY 44ft. Long BY about 20 ft. High Garage/Barn that sits 100 ft back from the house.

This was my wife’s dream house and after 28 yrs of marriage her dream has come true , and my wallet and pockets are empty and broke

, the wife really didn't like the idea at first but 3 yrs later it grew on her

. I really need to cover the ugly metal piping that the well sits in and didn't want a wishing well like everyone places over them. I like to be different and unique

Length x width = sq. footage and ours is 24' by 32' ,so it is roughly about 800 sq. ft. It sounds so small and I thought when we were building it that there was no way that we could have the room we needed. We ended up with kitchen,family room,pantry,bath,and three bedrooms! Mind you the rooms are small, but we all have our own space and that is what is important. I love small homes and always have. I believe they are much more family friendly, much cozier, and so much easier to heat and maintain. Lot cheaper to build too!
