So these two ducks were raised together and best friends, now that the one duck is gone I am concerned about the other duck. They have been best friends for a year, should I get a couple chicks?

Do you recommend baby ducks or older ones, I am not sure where I would get older ones. Thats a great idea! I have just the right one.She will be very happy with some new friends. We had a pair of ducks and lost one as well so she was solo for a bit while we raised new ducklings. I would recommend giving her a mirror for company while she's by herself, our duck used to like to sleep next to it and talk to it quite a bit.
I agree I was lucky that my adult took to the littles right away. It all depends on the personality. Thanks for adding!Ducklings may or may not be able to be integrated until they are close in size to your adult. It could be a slow process. Just something to think about ahead of time. It could be 1-2 months brooding them in your house until old enough to go out and another 1-2 months of see no touch housing before all can peacefully live together.
