Look at my Buff Orpingtons - Eggs soon? PICS attached

Here are some recent pics of my flock taken last night... most of my flock are BO but I have 1 RIR, 3 Black Orpintons and one mixed gift from a friend. (See the small stump I added to the run for playtime hehe)

BTW my Roo is over 1 yr old and my pullets are 18 weeks. Do any of these look like they are getting close to laying maturity? (I think the pullets look more mature than 18wks?)

Anyone think I could be close to getting eggs?????

Beautiful Roo! We gave one away just like him, and kept a splash. We have Orps too. Ours are 16 weeks. I'd say you have between 2 and 4 weeks of waiting yet, but there are pros here that can be more accurate. Great looking birds!

mine started to lay at 24 weeks. And lay they have. I love my sweet orps. The comb developement came a good while before the eggs with them. I have two blues now that are 23 weeks and can't wait for them to start laying. Just for fun when i have a broody I am going to let my BR male mate with them. I bet they will be beautiful layers. Wow, what a pretty flock. Your girls should start laying anytime now. My EE's started laying at 17 weeks old then my brown egg layers started in their 20th week. So anytime now you will start finding cute little brown eggs.

Absolutely! Have they started the squatting thing yet? If so, I'd say you're within 1-2 weeks at the most. Looks like they have a lot of space to roam, so if they don't have any clear nesting area, you may have to hunt for them. I have NHR's, EE's and BO's and my BO's were a lil dumb at 1st at figuring out where to go, but after the 1st attempt or 2, they got it right. One of my BO's started laying at about 19 weeks, one at 20, and I'm still waiting on the the other one at almost 22 weeks. So I say you're probably getting close - some of yours are much redder in the comb and wattle than my 1 that hasn't started yet.

Not that I have a lot of experience, but here's my opinion:

Your BO pullet with the larger comb looks like she will be ready soon. (back right of your roo in the first picture)

My BO had full size comb and wattles when she started laying.

I think that you are golden. My buffs have those same combs, and they are pumping out the eggs right now!
