I can barely look at those pictures.... I have extreme arachnophobia and a strong dislike of most other bugs. When I found out chickens will eat all of that stuff, I was doubly glad I decided to get my coop(s)!

That doesn't look anything like the sun spider/solpugids we get around here. YUCK I fight them out of the house all spring. And we have it sealed up tight, little buggers are sneaky. Nothing like the snake that when I opened the door last week tried to slither in, I came unhinged.. Dogs are worthless for that I tell you, and the chickens won't touch the sunspiders, scorpions or the tarantula's. I think they are too spoiled on sunflower seeds or something :|

I feel for you, I hate those critters.

This makes me so glad I live in the UK - I could not bear bugs that size!! My scream would be heard for miles!!

Back in my college days I had a couple of buddies with a very nasty house trailer and a serious roach problem. We were sitting in front of the Nintendo one evening when we heard a thump and the crash of many soda cans. When we explored the kitchen, we found a roach so large that it had pulled the full sized kitchen trash can over onto itself by trying to climb the side. I was appalled. I imagine those dudes are still single.

My husband calls them potato bugs. We have found several since we started doing our landscaping. Luckily the chickens love them!
