abluechipstock, yes it smells in there, you can tell the mother has been barfing up dead things for them to eat.There is nothing left on the floor, they eat everything. The mother and countless others will roost on the roof of that building some,or mainly on big hay bales not yet picked up out of the fields. They have never been around the babies when I'm in that shed. And I don't want them too either, because their defense mechanism is to throw up on you.
I'm telling you what, when I was in that shed, and never knew anything was in there,and that deep hissing noise came out from under a dark hog crate, I didn't know what to think. You just wouldn't believe the noise until you hear it. Before I stuck my head around the corner, I tried to look down through the grate flooring, and all I could see was something hairy moving around and it looked large. Little did I know, it was just 2 buzzards. If someone would of told me there were baby buzzards under there making that noise, I would not have believed them. You just have to hear it to believe it.
