I cannot believe our luck. A shelter called us today with just the dog we've been looking for. This one is a Great Pyrenes/Anatolian Shepherd mix. He is four months old and his name is Max. Our girls (hens) are a little indignant but they'll get over it - especially when he protects them from whatever tries to get to them. Max is already wanting to 'play' with the girls but they're not having any part of it - yet! If they don't get to know him now, he'll outgrow the age where they can gang up on him and peck his nose.

We got him for a $60 donation and I'm telling you what... this dog is has such a great nature! We are so happy we waited for the right one.

Does anyone have any training tips?

I would say teach him to come when you call, that way you will always be able to get him to you no matter what is going on.
Other than that if he is for "The Birds"

keep him with them as much as possible so they will all get used to each other
and he will learn that he is supose to protect his flock.

He sure is a Cutie
