looking for a pure breeder

im looking for a breeder in or will ship to louisiana that breeds 3 or more of the following, salmon faverolle, mille fleur d'uccle, silkie, amercauna, olive egger, frizzled polish. i dont trust the large hatcheries to give pure bred, which is a requirement bc i plan to show them!

Hi! Are these APA shows you want to be showing these birds at?

Even buying from people who have them that breed them doesn't mean you'll get birds that can be shown. If you want show birds, you need to buy from someone that actually shows. Otherwise, you might buy silkies from someone who just got their stock from a hatchery. Or someone that breeds them for fun and has non hatchery stock, but doesn't really breed to the standard so the birds aren't going to be at all competitive at shows.

You also might want to specify what colors you want, because some colors aren't accepted. There are a lot of breeders of lavender ameraucanas, for example, and a lot of those breeders ARE breeding to the standard because they want to get the color accepted - but it's not accepted, so take one of those to a show and the best you're ever going to get is best of AOV, no matter how nice the birds are.

And olive eggers aren't a real breed, so those can't be shown at all.

If you want real show birds, I suggest you go to your nearest local show and look for birds for sale there. A lot of people sell birds right at the show, and if you don't find the breed you're looking for available for sale, someone at the show will probably know where you can get them, or if some are entered, you can ask the person who entered them if they will have some available in the future.

I'm a little confused, are these not APA shows you'll be entering then? Because color definitely matters at an APA show, and an olive egger isn't considered a pure breed at all in one of these shows. There's not even a proposed standard for them. They can't be judged because there's nothing to judge them against.

If you're talking about 4H shows or county shows or even most fairs where they'll let anything be entered and the judging is done by anyone who will volunteer to do it, then it doesn't matter so much.

Designer breed just means lets try to fancy up a mixed breed to try to make more money from them then they're worth.
