Does anyone know if the case reported in Utah was dealt with?

Ncal was dealt with sounds likeAZ was dealt with too. AZ was a bird being moved from scal although I never heard it was a cockfighting bird.
In the 2003 outbreak there were cases in I think 5 other states.

This is a true statement. I’d have to go back and look for those stories. I remember the Half Moon Bay Review had a good story with the local Ag Commisioner. Another is a FoodSource article if memory serves me right.
The convo about it is buried in this whole thread.
That and I heard it straight from an avian vet employee, although I didn’t have the guts to ask her for the bulletin, that person is just an acquaintance.
I also heard it from a CDFA employee at a local satellite office when I called.
Swear I’m not fibbing.
Are you from Northern Ca? Cause a lot of us on the thread are, which is why we watched the Ncal case with interest and dissected it. Some probably pulled from rumors, but we are probably more educated about that ncal case than most.

So every single bird tested positive for VND is a gamecock? No stories of a sick sizzle, EE or anything else?

Not at all, many pet flocks have tested positive for vND and have been euthanized.

Sounds like that was an isolated case that was also taken care of. Haven’t heard a peep more about any of the three cases.

money. it's all about the money. It's not any different from underground gambling, dogfighting, etc.

Poor bio security measures on the owner’s part, closeness to infected flocks, the birds coming in contact with wild birds that shed the virus, buying at swap meets, etc.
