Losing My Job

Don't quit, let them fire you and seek an attorney. Write EVERYTHING down and keep a log and timeline. Don't give an inch. It will only benefit you and your attorney. Any e-mails, notes, anything, keep and add to the file. Whether you get unemployment or not, you may be able to win a case of harrassment. Don't let them scare you into giving up on getting anywhere.

Agree with all the other advice. Make them fire you; do NOT resign. You might want to speak to the EEOC about both the harassment and unwillingness to work with your medical conditions (think Disability Act).

Even though you will be able to draw Social Security, you should also be able to get unemployment. Unless they can show that they fired you for cause (takes a HUGE amount of documentation, and from what you've said, they have not followed anywhere near all the necessary steps for that), they are opening themselves up to a huge amount of liability.

Being fired is significantly different than not being offered a contract for the following year. The later applies to tenure, the former does not, especially with the harassment and medical conditions.

WOW!  When are things going to lighten up for you?  :hugs   Don't follow my advice because it is probably wrong, but I would not resign.  I would force them to fire me and then consider my options.  I would ask my union rep for advice and might even seek legal advice.  Good luck with this situation and your recovery.  :hugs

This,... i would not resign either..
It gives them allll the ammo they need to not let you back in again... and i dont think you'll have a leg to stand on if you resign..

And isnt this the same principle that made comments about you having a boyfriend and how it looks to the children? (something like that??) What'd she say again?..lol

Wasn't brought up this time.

THIS time I was told it was a business and it needs to be run like a business. While they would love to have sympathy for me, they just can't afford it.

Union rep for our beuilding made a comment to the district union guy about, "So when exactly was she supposed to improve? She was sick, then had a miscarriage, then only 2 weeks later they say she's been given enough time."

I think even if they do fire I would be sure to make a hostile place to work comment. I would seriously be going in front of someone to make a complaint. Your union reps stink btw. My dad and brothers did it for a while. Something like this, they would have eaten that principal alive. Seriously. Key phrase is hostile work environment. This is a gender bias too. I am not big on throwing those phrases around but thats what this sounds like to me.

None of their business of your living arrangements...what if you were gay? Would they say something differently?

Looking forward in seeing the new chapter in your life now....chicken farmer!

I agree!

I am generally hesitant to give advise on legal matters because I dont want the OP to rely on it as "legal advise." That being said, if it were me in that situation, I would never voluntarily resign for many reasons (quite a few of which have already been mentioned) UNLESS they were going to give you a large severence package in exchange for the resignation. Barring something like that, you get no benefit from resigning. Keep working until they give you notice.

I Am Very Sorry For Both the Major Loss's you have suffered . And I Hope Things work out for the Best with This Job situation .. Wishing you Luck And Happiness
