Loud duck breeds?

All of my females are loud (2 pekins, 1 cayuga,1 Tufted Buff), my males are quiet ( 1 pekin, 2 cayugas). I think the concensus is most female ducks are loud.

If you can get through the first year it seems like the hens quack a lot less.
My Year old Chocolate Runner only quacks briefly on occasion, but her quack is loud. Her blue daughter was loud and quacked very frequently, I had to find her a new home when she was eleven weeks old.
My year old Khaki Campbell is quiet most of the time, her rare quack is not as loud as the runner. The 15 week old KC quacks a bit more but not nearly as much as the 18 week old Welsh Harlequin, who will burst into a fairly loud quack whenever she sees me.
My year old WH doesn't quack much more than the year old KC, and has slightly less volume, but she makes another noise I have never heard from a duck fairly constantly. It's not quite as loud as a quack, and kind of sounds like a donkey braying. I keep wondering if anyone else has ever heard a duck do this? I should learn how to upload a video.

My runner is usually pretty quiet.

My buff mutt can be noisy at times, but usually she isn't bad. Her mom, a pure buff, was REALLY LOUD. She was so loud I sold her.

My khaki's were pretty quiet.

The Welsh Harlequin girls, while not as loud as the buff, are LOUD. I have one that just GOES OFF for 10 minutes at a time for no reason. She gets the other two going too....LOL

This is all very interesting. The breeds we have been interested in are Runners, KCs, WHs, and Swedes. I have heard a Pekin hen and know that one is out. I love the look of the runners, as does my 10 year old. My husband likes the Swedes. I am thinking KCs and or Swedes may be what we will consider. I would love to hear more from all of you on your thoughts about duck breeds.

I have 5 ducks, I have a call duck drake, a rouen drake, a runner duck, a pekin duck and a call duck. The female call is definately the loudest out of the group. My runner is not as loud and my pekin is somewhat noisey but nothing compares to the lungs on that little call

I got three call ducks, they all girls...does that make them callgirls? Anyway, they WAK their little heads off. they wak when they see me, wak when i leave them, wak when they swim, wak when they walk, they even wak while they're eatin an wak when their heads are under the water. and when doogie loses sight of the other two? WAAAAAAAKKK WAKKKK WAKKK. The entire neighbourhood can hear her.
Luckily all my neighbours like the sound of their wakking and actually get upset if they're quiet. They say my ducks constantly sound like they're laughing lol.
Except when doogie can't see the other two. They she WAAAKS so loud she squeaks at the end.
xx

I have four black silky ducks and the females rarely quack. The males quack to let everyone know what's going on, but like most male ducks it's not very loud at all. They are by far the quietest of our little flock.

The pictures I have of mine are awful, but here's some pictures:

I second this. I have both calls and KCs with Welsh Harlequins and Cayuga. The calls are very loud for how small they are. I think my WH females are the loudest of the larger ducks.

My Khakis are pretty quiet - they will make some noise when they see me and come running.

My Welsh Harlequins are much louder, but not constantly. I can commiserate with Wifezilla - I have one that will suddenly go on a rant for 5-10 minutes at a time! LOL

None of this is constant noise though

I have a male black swedish and a female swedish mix. My male Black Swedish is very quiet but all he does is a soft raspy noise. Even if the two get seperated. He can't make a loud noise if his life depended on it. My female swedish mix (my best guess to what she is) her quack can travel. She only does it once in the morning when they are getting into the pond and only a couple times a day, but it is only one "quackkkk quack quack quack". The rest of the time when they chatter together it is quiet.

When they were little I always whistled at them when I brought them there treats. As the female grew she started whistling back at me. So when I go outside as soon as I open my door I start whistling. She will start quacking back and the louder I whistle the louder she will get until we are standing right in front of each other.

Like we are playing marco polo. My hubby gets a kick out of it. She only does it to me so that makes it all the more funny.
