Over in Simmesport they only have one grocery store there Wiggly Piggly the town is a predominantly FS and welfare assisted as it is full of Katrina N.O. refugees. Anyway that store is sky high on prices I don't remember there ever being a sale there(they do have a points system but thats a lure/baiting is all) LOL you can drive 20 miles to Marksville and get twice the groceries for the same amount of cash, you know there is place in HELL for folks that take advantage(feed off the poor and desolate) of that system like that but too I think most of the FS recipients should/could GET A JOB too. Most people don't care how they spend money they don't work for or what comes easily! I, too, was wiped out with Katrina, in St Bernard, an medically 100% disabled and on a very low fixed income, but do not get or ask for food stamps! I grow what we eat and if we can't afford something, we do without, but I am against putting our grand children in debt to pay for things we can do without or non-essentials! Don't get me wrong, we all need a hand up, at one time or another, but it is still CHARITY, not ENTITLEMENT ! There is entirely too much waste and too much big government spending, with the crunch on businesses, that is causing our people to be unemployed. And don't get me started on the illegal immigrants who are being given more rights than our citizens! What part of "ILLEGAL" don't our politicians understand? I came up very poor, and it is not a sin to be poor, but it is a sin to stay that way because of laziness. Everyone has a chance, in this country, to have the American Dream, if we are willing to get out and work for it, honestly. By increasing our skills, we achieve a higher standard of living, but not for flipping hamburgers! IMHO
