Hello Catherine and welcome to BYC! so glad you decided to join our community. I'm so sorry for your loss. It does sound as though overcrowding was the catalyst for this unfortunate death. I can't think of any animal species that doesn't react badly to overcrowding. Hopefully your flock will thrive.
