Lowe's Playhouse: My Version ***Updated pics pg 3***

The roof is paint. It was the worst to do because of the rough cut lumber.

I had helpers for a bit. It was not near as much fun as they first thought it would be.

the roost look like they are pretty wide for bantams. but it is a picture maybe they are not.

this is also hard to tell from the picture how high are the roost from the floor?

(from previous experience we had a chicken hurt her foot from flying off the roost, so we had to redo a couple of things when we first got started)

The roost is a 2x4 with 4" side as the flat side. Under that is a poop shelf that is about 18" wide. It is about 8" below the roost.

In the picture you can see the 2x2 on the edge that will hopefully double as way to get to the top roost and also hold the pine shavings on the poop board. I left a gap on the other side to make it easy to sweep the waste into a bucket. I will try to take some better pictures this weekend.

I have that same playhouse sitting in my garage in pieces. I think I might wait for spring to put it together. May I ask how you attached a floor?

I used treated wood to build a base. I have pictures, but it will be monday before I can post them.

I took a piece of 5/8" plywood that was 4'x4' and layed on the ground. I had the playhouse built except for the roof and just sat it on the plywood and traced the inside dimensions. Once it was cut out the playhouse would sit around the plywood. I put it all on the base I built and screwed the house down through the 2"x2"'s.

Clear as mud right? The pictures will probably help, or feel free to pm with more questions if you want.

I have 6 Bantams in a coop smaller than that, and they are happy. They are only in there to sleep.
It's all about the run...
That is the cutest coop I have ever seen! Enjoy!

Actually that is sort of how I thought I would have to do it, but I was thinking that the playhouse would be pretty heavy and hard to work with at that point. I would love to see pictures of how you attached the floor and built the base. Thanks!
